Associate Director, Business Communications 

 

Description

 

 

This position will drive internal communications and engagement initiatives for Therapeutic Analytics and Operations (TA&O) – a centralized commercial function serving all of AbbVie’s business units with capabilities that span insights and analytics, field/marketing operations and training, and creative services, among others. The primary focus for this role will be to support the Vice President of TA&O and the TA&O leadership team in their communication to broad internal audiences. The role will also support the Vice President of The AbbVie Digital Lab – a separate centralized commercial function – with select change management initiatives and communications.

 

 

This position will report to the Director of Business Communications for the Specialty and U.S. Therapeutics Operations business unit. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Work closely with the Vice President, TA&O, to recommend and execute communications initiatives that deepen home-office and field-based employee understanding of business goals and progress as well as enhance team culture, collaboration, and agility.

  • Plan, execute, and measure internal employee communications and engaging experiences that inform and inspire the TA&O organization: town halls, all-team meetings, email and video messages, Q&A sessions, focus group forums, etc. 

  • Establish and drive LinkedIn presence for Vice President, TA&O, in alignment with business goals.

  • Work closely with a network of internal and public affairs communicators, as well as cross-functional colleagues, to advance corporate enterprise, culture, and change-related initiatives within TA&O organization.

Qualifications

Basic

 

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, business, or related field.

  • A minimum of 10 years professional experience, comprised of internal communications, public relations, and/or public affairs responsibilities.

  • Strong business acumen and ability to utilize superior verbal and written communication skills to convey key messages.

  • Proven ability to partner and establish credibility with senior leaders, collaborate across functions, navigate challenges/complexities, and influence without direct authority in a matrix environment.

  • Ability to manage initiatives to intended outcomes, adapting and iterating as needed.

  • Knowledge of current communication trends and experience with multiple channels/mediums.

  • Working knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including trends and issues relevant to AbbVie and the patients we serve.

  •  

Preferred

  • Communications experience (i.e., internal communications, public relations, and/or public affairs) within a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other life sciences organization.

  • Proven experience reflecting a senior leader’s “voice” when crafting written messages and talking points.

  • Proven experience developing and publishing communications in a regulated environment, including navigating content reviews with multiple stakeholders.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
