Job Description

The AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team shapes the digital transformation necessary for our treatments to positively impact patients’ lives. In the role of Associate Director, BTS Operations, you’ll tackle complex challenges as you develop and diversify your professional experiences while helping others grow and develop their skills.

You’ll be responsible for defining and executing the vendor management strategy for the BTS Commercial organization. You will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of multiple Commercial BTS vendors ensuring optimal performance, adherence to standards, and seamless collaboration with different functions within AbbVie. You will also lead one of AbbVie’s Commercial BTS Project Management Offices (PMO). This will entail oversight of various BTS project portfolio governance processes, ensuring the seamless execution of BTS projects, and cultivating a robust BTS project management culture across project and portfolio teams.

In this role you will:

  • Develop, refine, and execute the vendor management strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Focus areas are vendor selection, vendor performance management, ordering and invoicing process, and adherence to security and compliance standards. Identify areas for improvement and implement streamlined procedures. Partner with cross functional teams to streamline the third-party supplier evaluation process and to implement robust supplier monitoring processes for Commercial BTS.
  • Monitor compliance with contracted SLAs and seek to decrease project costs and turnaround time by proactively seeking and implementing measures that optimize our vendor network. Operate as a trusted advisor managing vendors to ensure compliance with company policies and informing new vendors of their responsibilities.
  • Establish and manage the defined PPM framework for a set of BTS portfolios.  Oversee weekly project demand & delivery status across the various BTS portfolios. Work closely with Project Portfolio Managers to prioritize projects and identify and escalate issues promptly. Analyze project data to enhance Project Portfolio performance. Lead the annual Capital Planning Process and ensure alignment with various stakeholders.
  • Establish KPIs and quality control measures to assess vendor and BTS project performance, ensuring adherence to agreed-upon service levels and standards.
  • Develop and deliver training programs aimed at enhancing competence in vendor & project management capabilities across the BTS Commercial organization.

Qualifications

Experiences that make you a strong candidate for this role include:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with +9 years; Master’s with +8 years; and PhD with +4 years of experience.
  • Experience in establishing and leading vendor management programs and activities.
  • Detail-oriented and adept at multitasking effectively as well as strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiating, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in managing international programs, teams, and budgets over $3 million.
  • Experience with large project management and/or PMO leadership within an international context, strong understanding of IT project portfolio governance and compliance, tools and methodologies.
  • Presentation experience at executive and senior levels of an organization.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.   • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
