Job Description

Purpose

This role provides leadership for U.S. Benefits programs and vendors for AbbVie employees and retirees in 70+ countries. This includes the design, development, communication and administration of benefits programs, including retirement, health & welfare and Vitality/well-being programs. The benefits team as part of the global Total Rewards team seeks to deliver forward-thinking benefits globally that supports AbbVie's Talent Philosophy and Total Rewards Guiding Principles to attract and retain top talent, supports the diverse needs of employees through their life and career stages, and responds to the rapidly changing business and economic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leads vendor/program management strategy and oversight, including contracting, financial oversight, service levels, communications, and escalated issues.
  • Leads strategy and priorities for benefit program management for AbbVie employees and retirees.  Determine opportunities to improve AbbVie benefit plans and employee and retiree experience through new or enhanced programs, processes, vendors and tools.  Support M&A initiatives.
  • Leads health and welfare data analytics, setting strategy and direction around data use and analytics to support benefit recommendations, optimize vendor and program management and support the value of benefit programs.
  • Manages overall department and fringe budgets, including financial trends, budgeting and LBE annual processes.  Partner with finance.
  • Project manage implementation of new programs, including system changes, HRConnect support needs, portal content, communication plan, live events/ benefits fairs/ cafe table-sits, meeting room logistics, vendor coordination, etc.  Manage cross-functional implementation teams.
  • Works with purchasing and external consultants for specific vendors and projects to ensure appropriate scope, fees and deliverables. Support all aspects of the annual renewals, including development of vendor renewals, new vendor selection, reports cards, etc.
  • Develops and deliver presentations to employees, management, and externally on benefits as needed.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Acts as liaison with AbbVie stakeholders including talent deployment, talent acquisition, legal, finance, treasury, accounting,  EH&S, and the business to ensure success of benefit programs.
  • People leader for one to two benefit specialists.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in relevant subject area.
  • People leader, 5+ years of leading a team and influencing in a matrix.
  • Position requires 10+  years of retirement, health & welfare, and well-being experience. 
  • Strong project management skills. Experience leading large, cross-functional projects or implementations.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, consulting experience and a proven record of putting together complex strategic, operational or tactical recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to tell a story.
  • Executive presence and ability to present to senior leaders. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Disposition to work in a highly diverse environment with potential for cross-cultural and communication barriers.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Able to multi-task in a face paced environment.
