The AbbVie Patient Services (APS) Marketing Team leads efforts across multiple brands and therapeutic areas to deliver the best possible patient treatment experience and help patients achieve their full treatment plan potential. 

AbbVie Patient Services Associate Director – Access and Reimbursement Marketing:  Oncology and Eye Care

The Associate Director APS – Access and Reimbursement marketing, reports to the Director, APS

A & R Marketing. The individual is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing HCP strategy for the APS Access teams for the Eye Care and Oncology brands. Strong leadership and the ability to collaborate across a complicated matrix is required.

The A&R marketing associate director possesses an in-depth understanding of access and reimbursement processes at the HCP level.   The ideal candidate has strong working knowledge of the payer landscape, buy and bill and specialty pharmacy acquisition models as well as working with field access teams. 

This role has direct reports and demonstrates the ability to influence and lead cross-functionally to successfully drive business outcomes. The candidate must be able to operate in a demanding environment with high expectations and maintain a customer-centric focus that drives achievement of quality deliverables, innovation, and performance. 

Key Responsibilities Include (may shift based on business needs): 

  • Provide oversight of agency relationships, focusing on partnerships with their Account, Strategy, Project Management, Creative, Measurement teams to elevate creative excellence and drive consistence of APS marketing programs.
  • Develop innovative and impactful initiatives and tactics that align to the Patient Services strategic imperatives and APS Marketing priorities.
  • Driving insights from data, customer engagement and cross functional collaboration
  • Lead A & R Provider Marketing Annual Planning Process and development of access strategy for associated functional areas
  • Lead the development of the PSP brand positioning and access messages across stakeholders for new and enhanced patient services support care models including the identification of barriers to patient access and developing innovative solutions to address those needs.
  • Generate strategic responses to critical market disruptors.
  • Responsible for A & R Eye Care and Oncology Provider marketing budgets while identifying efficiencies/synergies where possible to maximize resources. 
  • Work with AbbVie Digital Lab, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, OEC, Business and Technology Solutions to ensure comprehensive governance process upon roll-out of any initiative.
  • People leader, prioritizing investment of time in the growth and development of direct reports.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

  • Ability to elevate creative excellence and energize APS marketing to drive consistency in all marketing assets and channels.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and synthesize complex business and access challenges and translate them into impactful solutions that address the business need. 
  • Think “outside-of-the-box” attitude and ability to demonstrate agility. 
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships across stakeholders at all levels throughout the organization. 
  • Strong working knowledge in the following areas:
    • Drug Acquisition channels
    • Medical and pharmacy benefit design
    • Benefit Verification and Prior Authorization processes
    • Claim submission and denial management

Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is required


Qualifications

  • Advanced degree and previous marketing leadership experience required.
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing and/or strategic leadership, with the ideal candidate having previous Pharma experience with medical buy and bill products, as well as, working knowledge of supporting field access teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage brand positioning, end-to-end campaign management, and finance management.
  • Strong background in HCP service and retention strategies
  • Proficient planning and organization skills, attention to detail, execution, agility, and follow-through
  • Ability to manage and lead various external and internal partnerships, including agencies and production vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading marketers and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written, and presentation) and people skills.
  • Experience developing marketing plans and programs.
