Job Description

The 340B Drug Pricing program has become a critical issue impacting AbbVie’s business. Originally designed to help safety-net hospitals and clinics give better care to underserved communities, it has now grown exponentially, and deserves a greater level of focus.  Over the past few years, AbbVie has implemented important strategies and policy changes to tackle this growth, but its impact on AbbVie’s portfolio and the complexity of the 340B related issues now require a more dedicated, strategically resourced approach.

Therefore, AbbVie has established a high profile, 340B Center of Excellence (COE), that brings together a team of experts who will utilize analytics and insights to drive strategy, proactively address the growth of 340B and create new solutions to the industrywide abuse within the program.  COE leaders will work with Government Affairs and Legal to develop longer-term solutions and shape reforms while simultaneously collaborating with essential partners, including the Marketing, Finance, Market Access, Public Affairs and other key partners to deliver meaningful business solutions and impact.     

The 340B COE Operations Enablement Lead a leadership role in the business and operations of the 340B Center of Excellence, responsible for leading the strategic integration and enablement of all AbbVie 340B related activities. This person will be responsible for working with the COE, BTS and across the organization with various teams (Market Access, Trade, Finance, MABI) to establish clear lines of accountability and ways of working related to 340B reporting, forecasting, data operations, governance, and collaborating and guiding BTS support.

 

Primary responsibilities for this leadership position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure a high level of cross-functional coordination and strategic/tactical planning through ongoing communications as well as contributing to a positive team culture.  Infuse AbbVie Ways of Working and Talent Philosophy in day-to-day leadership and management of the business.
  • Project management for all engineering, design, and requirements needed for COE
  • Provide subject matter expertise on data ecosystem needed for COE
  • Work closely with 340B COE leadership on identifying data needs for COE
  • Determine technical requirements to establish 340B COE business and performance management areas within COE
  • Coordinate implementation of 340B related technical solutions
  • Establish analytical support associated with 340B dashboard
  • Establish analytical support associated with 340B duplicate discount and other 340B operations processes
  • Works with key contacts in BTS and MABI along with other leads within COE
  • Support technical development of new 340B site eligibility vetting process/ platform. 
  • Support technical development of outlier analysis (enhanced outlier detection model).
  • Support data and platform needs for robust reporting, KPI tracking, measurement protocols, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Develop and foster robust internal relationships with other key stakeholders, including but not limited to Market Access/Trade, Employer Teams, Finance, Patient Services, MABI, etc.

**This role will require 3 days in the Mettawa office. Candidates who are not local or within a commutable distance are expected to relocate.


Qualifications

  • Requires minimum of a bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years in the healthcare industry with significant systems, data mapping, business analytics support experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry. 
  • Indirect cross-function leadership and strong ways of working; leading cross-functional partners, such as the dedicated Business Technology (BTS) support role.
  • Leadership experience, having hired and developed a team.
  • Experience with key data sources (e.g. IQVIA, HCOS data, Rx claims data, PBM rebate data, EMR data)
  • Knowledge of 340B preferred.   
  • Candidates should have a working knowledge of the compliance and regulatory environment for manufacturers in the pharmaceutical space.

 

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Cross Functionally Skilled: Able to make BTS, MABI, and the 340B COE work in concert
  • Analytically Skilled: Able to define and implement the analytics to identify 340B issues / solutions
  • Technical Implementation Skilled: Someone who knows how to engage with partners to create and sustain reporting tools, analytical tools, and models
  • 340B Knowledgeable: knowledge of the 340B environment
  • Healthcare Data Skilled: Understanding of claims and other datasets involved in our world (Rx data, EMR data, rebate data, IQVIA data)
  • Ability to simplify the complex and identify what’s is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to influence across functions to gain consensus on solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, management and organizational skills, along with problem solving, conflict resolution and team building.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, execute, follow up and anticipate problems.
