Job Description

AbbVie is seeking strong, collaborative Ethics & Compliance Partner to business.  For AbbVie, compliance is key enabling function that is an integral part of the business.  This role requires working cross-team to help business to reach goals of focusing on patient needs whilst maintain highest ethical standards and strong respect for rules and regulations. 

 

This role is a key advisor and problem solver.  Direct line reporting is to the China compliance head and strategically partnering with business leaders to continuously enhance ethical culture and improve overall risk management, in an always audit ready attitude.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

 

  • Responsible for providing risk and compliance representation, advice, research, counsel, and opinions in areas of risk and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support in China on AbbVie compliance policies and procedures, national industry codes (e.g., RDPAC) and regional/international industry codes (e.g., IFPMA), government regulations including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other initiatives sponsored by the Office of Ethics & Compliance.
  • Champion decision-making that prioritizes ethics and principles of patients values before performance-based decisions.
  • Continue to enhance a best-in-class compliance program and to be in partnership with the Affiliate Compliance Insight Forum (ACIF) to support AbbVie’s business in China.
  • Connect between business team and compliance team to ensure voice from each side can be well heard and understood (e.g. feedbacks of policy update implementation, concern/suggestion of compliance process, request for change or help, etc.). Influence business management to foster appropriate understanding of compliance.
  • Partners with all levels of key business functions to provide Ethics & Compliance advice on routine and complex business programs. Proactive involvement of stakeholders’ business activity including regular meetings, projects planning with compliance insights provided so to enable a more compliant business design from beginning.
  • Assist Compliance Head to perform compliance risk assessment, trend analysis and best practice recommendations.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate awareness, education and training programs that focus on the elements of Affiliate Compliance Programs, CoBC, policies and procedures.
  • Assist on and participate in ACIF meetings.
  • Provides guidance on proposed commercial and medical programs, identifies basic legal, regulatory or other relevant issues referring matters to respective departments, analyzes alternatives and proposes solutions to the business.
  • Support management to define and implement improvement strategy and actions regarding revealed compliance issues (monitoring result, process gap, investigation result follow up).
  • Lead or act as the key contributor to various complex compliance enhancement programs, bring valuable insights to the project plan and proactively drive the progress of the projects by engaging global and affiliate level leadership team and x-functional stakeholders.
  • Champion speak-up, transparency and a culture of integrity.
  • Join different level of compliance team meetings/goals; provide insights on compliance policy/process improvement.
  • Actively follow trends in the market, regulatory environment including in business practices.
  • Actively engage in industry associations and other compliance related stakeholder groups.

Qualifications

 

  • 10+ years’ of experience in compliance related roles in multi-national pharma or medical device companies
  • Knowledge of and experience with FCPA and/or comparable anti-corruption rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with multinational corporate compliance culture
  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Strong business acumen and integrity and ethical judgment, impeccable ethics record
  • Advanced knowledge of the pharmaceutical business concept and operational activities in the relevant division and its associated compliance risks
  • Familiarity with industry rules, external environment, and current dynamics in the health care industry
  • Strong interpersonal and communication soft skills and training delivery capabilities
  • Good analytic capability including the ability to identify root causes of issues and corrective actions
  • Good capability evaluating and balancing risks with business needs and processes
  • Manage multiple complex matters and to proactively anticipate issues or problems as or before they arise
  • Strong knowledge of maintaining and implementing a Compliance program with focus on corruption prevention, monitoring, training, and working knowledge and some experience of internal investigations and enforcement
  • Fluent written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese
  • High scenes of work quality, looking into details
  • Strong ownership and accountability in work
