Job Description

*Position can be Assistant Director or Senior Manager based upon experience. 

*Position can sit in our Lake County, IL or Irvine, CA offices.

Assistant Director / Senior Manager, Scientific Medical Affairs has a key role within the migraine Therapeutic Area. Working under the leadership of the Scientific Director, this leader supports the development and execution of the migraine medical strategy, specifically as it pertains to onabotulinumtoxinA (onabotA). By providing scientific, strategic, and operational input into core medical affairs activities including thought leader engagement plans and field provider interactions; generation and dissemination of clinical and scientific data; provider and payer educational initiatives and promotional material review, this leader ensures tactical execution is relevant to the market across the key stakeholder -  physicians, patients, and payers.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing the accurate and detailed medical review of non-promotional and promotional materials for onabotA.
  • Contribute to the development of and lead the execution of medical education tactics in line with the medical functional plan and the integrated brand team strategy.
  •  Assist in the development of scientifically accurate marketing materials, medical education programs, and advisory boards.
  • Support identifying and designing impactful internal training programs: aiming to shape scientific understanding and medical practice.
  • Participate in the US conference planning and execution.
  • Collect, compile and summarize feedback from multiple scientific sources to provide relevant insights to the broader therapeutic area team (e.g., provide subject matter expertise for MSLs, Value & Outcomes and Commercial teams).
  • Ensures budgets, timelines, compliance requirements are factored into programs’ scientific activities.
  • With oversight, contribute to the development of medical strategy for onabotA and the migraine portfolio.

Qualifications

 

  • Advanced scientific degree (e.g., PhD, MD/DO, PharmD, NP, MSN) with 2-3 years of clinical, scientific/research, or industry related experience or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and presentation).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced corporate environment. Tolerance for ambiguity. High sense of urgency and commitment to excellence.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate good business judgment.
  • Strong project management and teamwork skills to address project risks and issues.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority to effectively deliver cross-functional projects.
  • A good understanding of Medical Affairs principles, study design and publications.
  • High-level understanding of product knowledge and labeling, associated disease states, relevant literature, treatment guidelines is preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design, results and methodology, regulatory and compliance requirements governing development of promotional and non-promotional materials is desired.
