Conceive, design, engineer, and implement infrastructure and platform architecture solutions that solve complex scientific and business problems at enterprise scale. This role is intended for architects who have operated across both core infrastructure and cloud platforms, translating hands-on experience from challenging modernization programs into resilient, forward-looking infrastructure designs. The Infrastructure Architect is expected to evaluate and integrate state-of-the-art infrastructure, cloud, networking, and platform technologies to elevate AbbVie’s infrastructure capabilities, enabling scalability, security, compliance, and operational efficiency across multiple business areas. While aligned to a primary architecture domain, this role requires broad platform fluency and the ability to reason across infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and security boundaries.
Responsibilities
Function as a hands-on infrastructure and platform architect, contributing deep solution designs across cloud and core infrastructure platforms while maintaining awareness of enterprise standards and roadmaps.
Design and evolve infrastructure architectures spanning compute, storage, networking, cloud services, and foundational platform services.
Apply modern architecture practices to translate requirements into infrastructure roadmaps, reference architectures, and implementation guidance.
Partner with application, data, security, and platform teams to ensure solutions are integrated and operable.
Evaluate emerging infrastructure and cloud technologies for relevance to AbbVie’s strategy.
Navigate complex legacy and hybrid environments with sound judgment.
Contribute to architecture reviews and governance forums.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to delivery teams.
Shape productive relationships with vendors and partners.
Ensure adherence to corporate standards including GxP, security, and lifecycle management.
Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience; Master’s with 7 years; or PhD with 3 years of experience.
Demonstrated experience across both cloud platforms and traditional core infrastructure.
Strong grounding in modern infrastructure architecture practices.
Ability to translate strategies and roadmaps into actionable designs.
Experience in complex modernization programs.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Understanding of architecture governance and standards.
Continuous learning mindset.
AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Computing Platform.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this postingbased on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more orless than the posted range. Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
