Job Description

The Analyst, Travel Security Risk Intelligence provides global security intelligence and risk analysis for AbbVie stakeholders, including senior leaders, assessing and analyzing threats to AbbVie’s people, assets, and operations around the world, helping to mitigate risks and to reduce uncertainty in decision making. The Analyst is an expert in advanced analytical methods. The role involves monitoring and evaluating the changing security environment relating to risk trends and geopolitical developments in different countries and regions around the world. Deliverables include country- and city-level risk assessments, risk trend analyses, situational and topical intelligence reports, newsletter articles, and security advice. The role will have a focus on AbbVie’s global Travel Security Program – including policies, travel risk ratings, high-risk travel approvals process, and travel security advice – working together with the BRI team and relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate AbbVie’s global Travel Security Program and policies  with cross-functional partners. This includes country travel risk assessments and ratings, travel restriction levels, high-risk travel approvals process, travel partner communications, and travel security advice such as Travel Security briefings, pre-trip advisories, content to BRI’s Travel Security page and security awareness campaigns.
  • Create written communications, including Global Security’s flagship publication the “BRI Weekly Bulletin”. Other products include travel security briefings, country risk assessments, regional risk trend analyses, situational and topical intelligence reports and presentations, forward-looking intelligence, and threat assessments.
  • Provide subject matter expertise as appropriate in regard to risks posed by crime, terrorism, social unrest, armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and other threats.
  • Support Crisis Management with both situational reporting and forward-looking intelligence.
  • Continuously monitor the worldwide security environment, discover and analyze emerging trends, patterns, and changes in any potential risks that may impact AbbVie people, assets, or business continuity. 
  • Build and maintain strong working partnerships within Global Security, other AbbVie functions including AbbVie Travel, Aviation, and Meetings & Events Planners, as well as liaising with external stakeholders such as government intelligence agencies and private-sector benchmarking groups.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred. A major in International Relations, Political Science, Journalism, or Communications preferred.
  • Superior writing and analytical skills a must, together with strong verbal communication and briefing skills. Ability to research and synthesize large volumes of data quickly and accurately necessary.
  • Foreign country/cultural exposure preferred (e.g. lived or studied abroad).
  • At least 5 years of experience conducting international risk intelligence or travel security analysis. Background in private sector security preferred.
  • Strong subject matter expertise of issues related to country and travel risk, worldwide security environment, geopolitics, terrorism, crime, and civil unrest necessary.
  • Detail-oriented but with ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with travel risk management, mapping.
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with a wide range of stakeholders, up to senior leaders.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
