Job Description

QTAS Bioanalytical Sciences Intern Overview

The QTAS Bioanalytical Sciences Intern will conduct LC-MS/MS method development and optimization for separation of challenging chiral compounds to support ADME work. The work will also include optimization of mass spectrometry and chromatographic conditions, such as ionization source and mobile phases, used for quantitation of small molecule inhibitors.

This internship will be based in South San Francisco, CA.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and optimize LC-MS/MS based methods for separation and quantitation of challenging small molecules chiral compounds to assist with ongoing ADME research
  • Optimize current LC and MS parameters to create reproducible and reliable LC-MS/MS methods to ensure accurate sample analysis across classes of compounds
  • Analyze and interpret data from bioanalytical assays, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results
  • Conduct literature reviews to stay up to date with current best practices in small molecule method development
  • Operate robotic liquid handling system in sample processing and assay applications

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics, or another related field
  • Good communication and organizational skills are essential

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Expected graduation date between December 2025 – June 2026
  • Experience with LC-MS/MS for quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills
  • Self-motivated; ability to execute with limited supervision and direction. Can work independently or part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
