PV Process and Innovation Intern Overview:

Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Interns. The Pharmacovigilance, Patient Safety, Epidemiology, and Quality (PSEQ) organization works collaboratively and strategically with colleagues across the product lifecycle to identify, evaluate, understand, and communicate the safety profile and ensure quality standards of AbbVie products to protect patients worldwide.

The Process, Technology, Data, and Innovation (PTDI) team plays a critical role in conceptualizing, designing and implementing strategic projects, operations and business process initiatives across the PSEQ organization. The team is a high-profile, high-impact team that works with PSEQ functions on a range of critical initiatives – from executing cross-functional safety process improvements to overseeing large technology implementations. As a member of the team, you are at the forefront of working with senior leaders to identify critical priorities and drive high-value projects that make an impact on business performance.

Key responsibilities include:

The PV Process and Innovation intern will play a critical role in evolving and providing sustainable methods for creating capacity, ensuring quality and consistency, and minimizing stress on the organization. The intern will gain hands-on experience in the areas of data analysis, process improvement, and project management. This role requires strong organizational skills, a strategic mindset, and analytical capabilities to support efforts related to the improvement of AbbVie’s Pharmacovigilance system.

The Intern can expect to:

  • Map processes and pinpoint areas of potential development to drive business efficiencies.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to gain insights and identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Support implementation and automation of quality management and compliance metrics.
  • Evaluate and pilot new technologies to drive business performance.
  • Drive consistency across PV processes and technology.
  • Create reports and presentations to communicate findings, results, and recommendations to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Operations, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Must be enrolled in university during the internship period
  • Must be returning to university the semester following your internship
  • Expected graduation date between December 2025 – June 2026

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Working knowledge of PowerPivot, PowerBI, QlikSense, Tableau, Python or equivalent data analysis tools.
  • Experience with process mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio or Mural.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint.
