Job Description

The Corporate Affairs organization comprises of four functions that collectively advance AbbVie’s business priorities and reputation around the world. AbbVie’s Corporate Affairs Development Program (CADP) consists of up to 4 rotations over 3 years to prepare you for Corporate Affairs management roles.  This role is crafted to help you develop exceptional functional and leadership traits by working on a wide range of projects, while providing exposure to different leaders in the company. These experiences will develop you and give you opportunities to build upon our established core competencies towards future leadership opportunities at AbbVie. The rotations are carried out across our key functional areas: Corporate Marketing, Global Therapeutics Communications and Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Responsibility & Global Philanthropy. You will also get experience by working cross functionally in a matrix environment, building your business acumen, and participating in key training sessions.

Past rotations/projects have included:  

  • Management of disease state awareness campaigns and patient activations
  • Support the writing and development of ESG Action report
  • Develop and publish content across all AbbVie channels and develop paid ad content
  • Management of social media engagements across all AbbVie social channels
  • Developing stories and pitching external reporters and media outlets and building briefs for internal leadership

The majority of CADP members will be placed in Lake County, IL.  Placements will be based on business need and individuals' preference​.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of the AbbVie Corporate Affairs Internship
  • Must be currently enrolled in university and completing your final year of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Must graduate with a Bachelor’s degree prior to the intended full-time start date.  Preferred degrees included public relations, communications, integrated marketing, journalism or equivalent
  • Demonstrated interested in Healthcare through course work, internships or related experience
  • Basic/intermediate experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities, projects or internships)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher preferred 
  • High learning agility and initiative
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team setting
  • Excellent communication, leadership, project management, problem solving, analytical skills, and business mindset

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
