2024 QTAS Bioanalytical Sciences Intern Overview

Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.

The QTAS (Quantitative, Translational and ADME Sciences) Bioanalytical Sciences Intern will work in the non-regulated small molecule bioanalytical group to help identify and measure endogenous pharmacodynamic biomarkers to understand mechanism of action.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Evaluate and apply novel techniques or approaches to address challenging bioanalytical issues such as measuring biomarkers or metabolites in multiple matrices.
  • Develop LC-MS/MS based methods for quantitation of challenging small molecules to help in understanding the mechanism of action of different targets.
  • Analyze and interpret data from bioanalytical assays, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Operate robotic liquid handling system in sample processing and assay applications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master’s Degree or PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics, or another related field.
  • Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Expected graduation date between December 2024 – July 2025 .
  • Experience with LC-MS/MS for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Self-motivated; ability to execute with limited supervision and direction. Can work independently or part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
