Oncology Discovery Tumor Dependency Intern Overview

This internship opportunity is in the Functional Genomics group within the Genomics Research Center which plays a key role in technology development that furthers goals in the identification and validation of novel targets across all disease indications. Under supervision of a principal research scientist in the group, the individual will primarily support a project to establish new CRISPR-based technologies that will assist oncology research in model development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing wet-lab experimentation towards the development of novel CRISPR technologies.
- Creating new experimental models that will assist in creating new disease models.
- Communicating data in a group setting and collaborating in a cross-functional setting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a PhD or Master’s program in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field.
- Ability to conduct and interpret scientific experiments, providing suggestions for additional experiments, including design and development of new assays.
- Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
- Experience with molecular biological techniques and mammalian tissue culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expected graduation date between December 2024 – July 2025.
- Previous experience utilizing CRISPR and handling lentivirus.
- Self-motivated; ability to execute with limited supervision and direction. Can work independently or part of a team.
- Troubleshoot experiments, identify, and solve elementary problems in experimental designs, including laboratory experimentation.
- Proficient in required software including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
