Internship Program Overview
As an AbbVie intern, you will participate in a paid, 10-12 -week summer program, work on meaningful assignments that have a real impact on our business and patients worldwide. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem - solving. The internship assignments are carried out in a variety of functional areas such as: Commercial, Operations, Research & Development, Corporate and Allergan Aesthetics .
AbbVie’s worldwide business offers you an opportunity to work in a variety of fields, including: Financial Analysis; Budgets, Plans and Forecasts; Reporting & Controls ; and Manufacturing Operations Accounting.
The majority of Finance Interns will be placed in Lake County, IL, though there is a possibility of being placed within any U.S . AbbVie or Allergan Aesthetics location. Placements will be based on business need and individuals' preference . Throughout the summer there will be planned development and networking activities, along with housing benefits for eligible students.
AbbVie strongly considers high performing interns as candidates for the Finance Development Program (FDP). AbbVie’s FDP consists of four rotations over two years to prepare you for financial management roles. The roles are crafted to help you develop exceptional functional and leadership traits by working on a wide range of projects, while providing exposure to different leaders in the company. These finance experiences will develop you and put you on the fast track to future finance leadership opportunities at AbbVie. The rotations are carried out in a variety of functional areas such as: Commercial, Operations, Research & Development, and Corporate. You will also get experience by working cross functionally in a matrix environment, building your business acumen, and participating in key training sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related discipline: Finance or Accounting with a graduation date between August 2024 – July 2026
Minimum of 3 Accounting courses completed (3 credit hours each) upon graduation . At least one of these 3 courses must have a focus on Cost/Managerial Accounting.
- Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship with AbbVie
- Demonstrated school or work experience using Micro soft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated leadership in school or student organization
- Must submit unofficial or official transcript at time of application
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation date between August 2024 – July 2025 preferred
Dual major or minor in a related field is a plus
Certificate program or accredited course in Excel or data visualization tool
Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities
Excellent problem-solving skills
Previous internship or related experience
Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and project management skills
Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity
Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher preferred
