Computational Pathology Internship Overview
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie Interns.
The undergraduate intern will work within the computational pathology team to assist scientists on the development of machine learning approaches and refinement of existing image analysis tools. The intern will aid in the discovery and implementation of novel biomarkers across a variety of diseases.
Key responsibilities include:
· Utilize cutting edge technology for the analysis of images or similar data derived from a variety of imaging modalities and platforms
· Develop, validate, and deploy AI models for segmenting tumor, stroma, and necrosis on whole slide tissue scans for multiple indications using innovative AI algorithms
· Compile data and present at internal meetings
Minimum Qualifications
· Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or other related field
· Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship
· Expected graduation date between December 2024 – July 2025
· Familiarity with and strong interest in developing and validating machine learning and AI techniques for image-like data
· Programming experience in python
· Experience with statistics and data analysis/visualization of multi-dimensional data
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working with pathology image scans
· Experience using digital pathology tools such as QuPath, Halo, and VisioPharm
