Cell Culture Development Intern Overview

The Cell Culture Development Intern will support the Cell Culture Development Group in South San Francisco, CA to work on an exciting project developing a N-1 perfusion process for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare cell culture media and stock solutions.
- Plan, design, and execute cell culture activities from vial thaw, passaging, scale-up, and shake flask fed batch production experiments.
- Setup and execute 2L bioreactors with ATF perfusion.
- Monitor the cell culture performance via various analyzers such as cell counter, blood gas analyzer, metabolite analyzer, and HPLC.
- Document and analyze data.
- Author and present experiment findings in a PowerPoint and/or poster presentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related field.
- Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
- Laboratory experience with mammalian cell culture and proficiency in aseptic technique.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expected graduation date between December 2024 – July 2025.
- Experience with ATF (alternating tangential flow filtration) perfusion technology.
- Experience in executing mammalian suspension cell culture processes in shake flasks and 2L bioreactors.
- Experience with authoring technical reports and delivering presentations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
