Senior Pharmacometrician II - Focus on MIDD & QSP (all genders) - 18 months temporary, fulltime

Pharmacometrics is focusing on the mathematical and statistical analyses and modeling of biological, pharmacological, and physiological data and processes. It quantifies the various aspects of the (desired and undesired) effects of drugs in the context of disease. The models are based on clinical data, and provide a basis for informing efficient drug development, regulatory decisions, and optimal treatment of patients. 

We are looking for a MIDD and QSP expert who will build and implement mechanistic models to support our platform modeling strategy in oncology development. You will propose modeling and simulation ideas within the MIDD framework and implement these efforts to drive our development programs forward. In this role, you will investigate, identify, develop, and optimize methods that enhance our MIDD strategy. Acting as the MIDD expert in oncology development, you will critically evaluate relevant developments in QSP, MIDD approaches, and regulatory requirements. You will integrate this knowledge into the Clinical Pharmacology MIDD strategy for both research and development programs, with a primary focus on oncology.

In detail this means you: 

• Develop QSP platform models for multiple oncology mechanisms
• Create and optimize Virtual Populations to capture patient heterogeneity and support clinical trial design
• Implement new methods to enhance QSP-driven MIDD, including AI/machine learning augmentation for literature screening, model drafting, and virtual population optimization
• Deliver practical results that inform dose and regimen selection, optimal combinations, therapy duration, and study design for active development programs
• Work as part of a coordinated team within the PMx Oncology Group

This is how you can make a difference:

• PhD with 0+, Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience in a field related to Applied Mathematics, System Pharmacology or comparable
• Interest in medical topics
• Proven scientific track record and practical experience such as successfully implemented QSP models, modeling with differential equations, scripting languages (R, Matlab, Python, Julia or similar) or clinical trials and drug development
• Critical and self-reflective thinker
• Persistence and resilience 
• Ability to connect unrelated concept and to generate original or unique ideas
• You influence colleagues to achieve departmental alignment
• You give full accountability when delegating and accepts full accountability when delegated to
• Fluency in English required, German would be a plus
