Cost Accounting Manager

Purpose:

The Manager, Cost Accounting oversees financial accounting, financial reporting, cost allocation, collection of data and preparation of reports that maintain AbbVie’s cost accounting systems for businesses supported.  Responsible for the implementation of accounting and internal control policies/procedures to assure accurate financial reporting, cost effective production and responsible commitment of asset/expense resources.    

Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial support to the Drug Manufacturing and Packaging Unit Managers
  • Lead the annual manufacturing cost development cycle
  • Develop cost estimates for new products, product extensions and new business opportunities
  • Support project initiatives and accounting for new cost improvement initiatives
  • Support development of accurate financial forecasts (LRP, Plan, Standards, LBE)
  • Support the month-end financial close process
  • Gain exposure to capacity planning by conducting discussions with operations management
  • Maintain internal controls and document key financial processes
  • Other various ad hoc analysis to support business strategy
  • Develop high performing staff; provide leadership, motivate, and develop direct reports and inspire team members

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA preferred
  • Minimum 8+ years progressive accounting/finance professional growth
  • Supervisory experience including demonstrated coaching and development skills
  • Working knowledge of US GAAAP, internal controls, Sarbanes Oxley and financial reporting requirements
  • Ability to work independently and adjust priorities to achieve accurate and time results
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to collaborate across functions
  • Proficient computer skills, including SAP, BPC and Excel preferred.

Significant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
Travel: Yes, 10 % of the Time
