The Market Access & Patient Services (MAPS) organization within APEX plays an instrumental role in shaping payer market access and patient services strategies for all of AbbVie’s domestic brands. As a people leader of this team, you will greatly influence securing market access across all therapeutic areas and payer channels by executing contracting strategies and leading all deal model analytics. You will partner with Business Evolution functions to build and scale deal analytics reflecting emerging market access and distribution models. You will closely collaborate with internal stakeholders from Finance, Forecasting, BTS, Legal, Marketing, Pricing as well as field-based Account Managers to establish approved contracting terms that maximize brand net sales. With a focus on commercial and government contracting, rebate programs, and trade agreements, you will ensure that pricing and contracting strategies are executed through sophisticated analytical methods. You will also lead and develop a team of analytical talent, develop analytical capabilities, enable organizational learning from fact-based analytics, and ensure alignment of insights with the broader commercial goals of each brand. The role requires strong data modeling skills and subject matter expertise within the overall U.S. market access environment and an in-depth understanding of the continuously evolving payer landscape.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead payer contracting analytics across Market Access for all therapeutic areas and payer channels across ~25+ brands. Influence the implementation of brand level Pricing and Contracting strategies at the customer level to achieve optimal payer formulary access that maximize net sales for assigned brands. Demonstrate very strong understanding of the U.S. payer landscape to translate and apply brand access strategies to the unique characteristics of our customers. Identify through advanced modeling, the risks, opportunities, and sensitivities associated with various access outcomes. Play a significant role in influencing Executive leadership decision making through strong story telling skills and business acumen. Build collaborative relationships with internal U.S. Market Access Sales and Marketing stakeholders.
Key areas of functional scope include:
- Leading the process for implementing and strengthening the execution of Pricing and Contracting strategies by developing an understanding of contracting strategies in each customer segment, modeling payor response to potential contract terms, formulary placement and utilization management tactics, and tracking post-deal account level performance through ROI/variance analyses using customer and secondary data sources.
- Interfacing with key external customers such as PBMs, Health Plans and market disrupters emerging as a result of Government regulation, to share analytical insights and positively influence deal negotiations.
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of syndicated and AbbVie proprietary data, data science and modeling techniques and the ability to synthesize insights into compelling narratives.
- Continuously evolving contracting models to reflect the intricacies of complex customer business models, enabling AbbVie to understand stakeholder economics from a patient and payer perspective and maximize AbbVie’s leverage with customers.
- Managing 8-10 direct/ indirect reports, including talent recruiting and development as well as oversight of $1MM+ budget associated with external vendor support.
- Co-leading with cross-functional partners on key data/analytics infrastructure enhancements to enable superior analytical capabilities across U.S. Market Access organization.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree or MBA
- 15+ years of professional experience.
- 12+ years of related industry experience in marketing/sales analytics.
- 5+ years of experience people management.
- Strong story telling skills; ability to distill complex information synthesized into concise and impactful messages and communications.
Preferred:
- Strong working knowledge of syndicated pharmaceutical data sources, including formulary data sources and claims data sources.
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical market access experience and subject matter expertise with Health Plans, PBMs, Hospital Systems, Specialty Pharmacies and Healthcare Policy stakeholders.
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical marketing insights experience with significant expertise with Physician and Consumer stakeholders.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.

177000 - 336000 USD
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
