Solutions Architect - US Patient Services

AbbVie US Commercial Business Technology Solutions (BTS) organization is looking for a Solutions Architect to be part of the Technology Services and Architecture team to lead the end-to-end solutions architecture, design, platform evaluation & on boarding, DevOps strategy & implementation, application architecture, integration architecture, data architecture, infrastructure architecture, technology/platform/solutions governance, etc. for patient services engagement, data and marketing automation solutions. This position will support the care model launches, new capabilities design and implementation, and will play key role in the modernization and transformation of the patient services technology infrastructure by implementing new patient relationship management platform, data, and marketing technology capabilities, to deliver end-to-end next generation technology capabilities that will elevate the patient and user experience.

This position will report to BTS Senior Solutions Architect for Patient Services and consumer marketing, and will partner with IT strategy & planning team, IT functional leads, care model operations team, Engagement Solutions management team, Engagement Solutions engineering & operations team, Digital Marketing Hub engineering & Operations team, Patient Services business function leads, application architects, etc. to translate the solution needs into technology capabilities, define the architecture & design, govern the implementation and oversee the delivery of best-in-class technology solutions for US Patient Services function.

This position will be responsible to lead a team of technical Architect, Data Architect, Application architects, etc., evaluate the performance of those individuals and is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.



  • Provide comprehensive consultation to stakeholders across business and BTS teams at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments
  • Define goals for technology components and frameworks including reference architectures, solution design and implementations for CRM/Data/Reporting/MarTech solutions, including, but not limited to Salesforce Service/Health Cloud, .NET, SQL Server, Adobe Experience Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Platform, Qlik, AWS, Tableau, Datorama, etc.
  • Define core architecture and architecture guiding principles and ensure compliance to the defined principle.
  • Conduct formal technical research and define adoption process to solve business problems and improve patient experience
  • Define technology architecture roadmap for digital transformation initiatives to launch next generation patient services platform using range of technologies across Salesforce Service/Health/Community Cloud, Adobe Experience Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, AWS, Power BI, etc.
  • Work with the Solutions managers, Product Owners, Solutions Architect, Business Analysts and technical architect to prioritize, groom, design, and estimate the epics/user stories for the Salesforce & other platforms.
  • Develop architecture & design for new business capabilities, build proof of concepts, demonstrate the solution to solutions managers, product owner and business leads, and obtain approval for implementation. 
  • Define and enforce design standards (Coding principles and best practices); Conduct regular audits of the solutions to ensure development team is adhering to the design standards; Review the detailed design and code during development cycle to ensure the system meets the defined acceptance criteria for the features.
  • Define and establish release & deployment strategy, including but not limited to configuration management, release management, code branching strategy in version control system, CI/CD pipeline, etc. using Azure DevOps, Tosca, etc.
  • Create the integration design for websites, mobile applications and other systems for engagement to exchange data with Salesforce/ Adobe suite of products.
  • Own the Solution Design and Technical architecture, management and governance for Salesforce, Adobe suite of products and custom-built applications and databases.
  • Conduct formal technical research and define adoption process to solve business problems and improve patient experience
  • Define migration strategy for migrating existing legacy applications (.NET, Veeva) to Salesforce.
  • Lead the implementation of DevOps automation for Salesforce, Adobe suite of products and custom applications in collaboration with enterprise architecture team to gain productivity improvements and reduce the time taken to move the committed code to production.
  • Demonstrate creative 'out of the box' thinking to solve difficult problems and champion new technologies to achieve project goals.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, technology providers, and other architects to develop technology and information architectures, strategies, and roadmaps.
  • Independently responsible for technology within his/her area of expertise on multiple projects. Demonstrate mastery across a wide range of data and software engineering, including data warehousing, data integration, and software development.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical business, and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions
  • Recognized and sought out as an expert in his/her discipline within the company and possibly externally.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of experience, Master’s Degree and 6 years of experience, PhD and 2 years of experience in application program development. Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in architecting the solutions in server, client, and cloud technologies, and should have in-depth knowledge in system development life cycle, software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile) and Patient services domain.
  • 5+ years of experience in architecting and implementing custom web, mobile, and integration solutions using .NET or similar stack.
  • 2+ years of experience in implementing solutions in platform such as service cloud/health cloud/marketing cloud/, and MarTech platforms such as CDP/DMP/Marketing Automation Platform.
  • Knowledge in programming languages such C#, Python, REST APIs and database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, etc.
  • Proven experience in architecture roles including architectural principles, helping define the reference architecture, building technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy, and helping to institute governance to ensure alignment of investment to strategy/architecture.
  • Proven experience in engineering, design concepts, algorithms, and experience in designing systems leveraging emerging or best-in-class technologies.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills that build trust and serve to positively influence partners and teammates.
  • Should have good understanding in relationship between business processes, applications, databases, operating systems, processing platforms, storage platforms, security systems and networks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating enterprise business processes with technology skills.
  • Ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage time and deliver results across multiple workstreams at once.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge in a fast-paced, business, and technical environment.
  • Experience in DevOps concepts, working with CI/CD Tools in preferred.
  • Experience in building solutions in compliance with HIPAA, GxP regulations is preferred.
  • Experience in enterprise architecture framework like TOGAF is preferred.
