Senior Copy Writer - Pacific Communications

Reports to the Associate Creative Director of Art.  Prepares the art component of promotional communications for the brands to which he/she is assigned in close collaboration with his/her counterparts in the copy department.

Pacific Communications competes for Agency of Record relationships within the classic full-service environment, which is categorized specifically as a communications industry unto itself. The Medical Communications industry has very specific organizational and cost structures, but is a service business with typical characteristics of the sector: people-intensive, few tangible assets, less predictable profit patterns.

  1. Reports to the ACD/Copy.  Is responsible for the copy output of the brands for which he/she is responsible.  Works in close collaboration with counterparts in the art department.  Is expected to complete work in a timely fashion and within budgetary parameters. 


  1. Continually strives to elevate his/her level of creative ability consistent with the desire for growth and excellence implicit in the Agency’s vision, mission and values. Sustains an ongoing effort to keep up-to-date on current developments in communications as they apply to the copy/creative department. 


  1. Is responsible for being current and conversant with his/her brands and the competition.  Expected to participate in, and be a valuable contributor to, Brand Blueprint sessions.  Is expected to effectively present creative work both internally and externally. 


  1. Expected to understand and incorporate brand positioning, strategy and messaging into all brand work. 


  1. May be called upon to participate in new business pitches with the new business team as required.






Education and Experience

  • Four-year college education, with a focus on English/comparative literature/etc., preferably some course work in the communication arts
  • Combined 3 to 5 years creative/copy experience, preferably in healthcare communications
  • Creative experience within the classic full-service healthcare agency environment

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Combination of supervisory management skills and creative awareness and sensibility
  • Interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to manage highly charged group dynamics, and processes
  • Persuasiveness, and advanced presentation skills
Significant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
