Senior Program Manager - Data Governance

The US Patient Services team is an industry leading organization, providing unparalleled patient support that results in improved brand loyalty and patient satisfaction.  The Senior Program Manager, Data Governance reports to the Associate Director, Data Governance and Operations and is responsible for applying data governance expertise and strong tactical skills that will be leveraged to enable data management solutions, to meet present and future business needs across the US Patient Services Immunology, Specialty, and CNS portfolios.  The candidate will be passionate about how data is created, consumed governed, shared, and utilized within the organization and will easily adjust to rapid changes in people, process, and product.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • As the Senior Data Governance Manager, you will help lead the strategy and implementation of our fit-for-purpose Data Governance program
  • You'll work to define requirements and business processes as well as implement mechanisms to effectively manage and govern across the enterprise
  • This job includes working with our larger Data Operations team as well as Data, Engineering, and Product teams across the organization
  • Develop and implement a fit-for-purpose data governance framework to define, identify, and manage critical data elements
  • In partnership with stakeholders, develop, obtain buy-in, and implement data management standards, policies, and best practices
  • Develop standards for data management practices throughout the data lifecycle
  • Partner with technology stakeholders to integrate data management standards into change management processes, enabling adoption of standards at-scale
  • Educate on data governance practices and drive adoption across the enterprise by communicating the value towards making data-driven decisions
  • Participate in development and implementation of data quality standards and drive adoption across teams and systems
  • Develop and report on KPIs to monitor adoption of data management across the enterprise

  • Skills:

  • Have a good understanding of Data Governance, Data Management, Data Mining, Prep, Insights & Analysis, ML-AI, and Statistics
  • Able to manage team’s relationship with stakeholders (BTS, MABI, Patient Services Marketing, Franchise, Patient Engagement Services, etc.) to coordinate activities across capabilities and working well in a cross-functional team to execute initiatives successfully
  • Able to create, develop, and implement project plans in fast paced environment and clearly communicate complex and technical tasks
  • Able to come up with effective and efficient ways of managing, collecting, exploring, and analyzing data to improve the usability and quality of critical data/information
  • Understand and analyze different data management tools/software to centralize and democratize access to datasets for all stakeholders, breaking down silos between teams and facilitating data access for all
  • Be comfortable in conversations about Data architecture, database management, and how data governance applies in each scenario
  • Some coding experience, SQL, knowledge of big data technologies
  • Identifies opportunities to improve operational metric reporting/platform system reporting and acts as needed to assure KPI’s are achieved. Synthesize data/insights and apply this information to program refinement and new initiative development. 
  • Provide tactical leadership and strategic direction of all platform solutions supporting customer needs & US Patient Services objectives and tactics.  Encompass a “One AbbVie” mindset and perspective in all strategies
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data life cycle and change management
  • Experience in building data valuation frameworks and implementing them for effective fit-for-purpose data governance
  • Knowledge of regulations such as SOX, GDPR, and CCPA
  • Self-starter who enjoys taking on challenging problems and operationalizing solutions
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a Computer Science, MIS, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of professional experience in data governance
  • Exposure to data governance tools supporting data management, data quality, and lineage

  • Demonstrated history of developing programs that are customer-centric
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking to the overall business, and then develop tactics that best meet the strategic initiatives
