AbbVie Immunology has discovery efforts focused on antibody-drug-conjugates (ADC) for the treatment of fibrosis, with a focus on systemic sclerosis/scleroderma and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The ADC research group will focus on developing in vitro models of fibrotic disease as well as screening assays to validate ADCs. We are seeking a bench scientist with extensive in vitro skills who can develop and execute on a variety of different assays to support this area of research.  The ideal candidate will thrive in a highly collaborative environment that includes biologics, chemistry and bioinformatics.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Independently develop, optimize and implement in vitro approaches to study human fibrotic disease to demonstrate therapeutic efficacy
• Expertise with cell culture, particularly with primary human cells
• Develop and execute screening assays to validate ADCs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 10-12 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 8-10 years of experience, PhD and typically 0-4 years of experience.
• Understanding of biologics/large molecule approaches for therapeutic interventions
• Experience developing/executing in vitro assays for screening as well as demonstrating therapeutic effects in cell-based systems
• Prior experience with biologics or fibrosis is a plus
• Prior drug discovery/industry experience is a plus
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including data analysis, record keeping in an electronic notebook and presentation of work at project team meetings
• Collaboration skills
