Data Engineer - OUS Commercial
Req ID 2207364 Category Information Technology Division AbbVieThis role will be working in a global environment in a team of Data Engineers that is integrating AbbVie’s data in a modern, scalable, cloud-based environment. The Data Engineer is responsible for curating content to support key business initiatives, working primarily with data analysts across functional disciplines. The Data Engineer participates in the acquisition, cataloging, and harmonization of information aligned with the needs of business stakeholders and supports data consumers in understanding information context, generating fit for purpose datasets, and effectively utilizing advance analytic tools. This role will collaborate with other capability towers like Architecture, MDM, and Business Analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, construct, test and maintain architectures to support Analytics capabilities across brands.
- Build standardized data products and service processes which perform data transformation, metadata extraction, workload management, quality control and error processing management to deliver accurate and timely data and reporting.
- Adhere to best practices for coding, testing, and designing reusable code/component and application and consistent business rules throughout the data processing lifecycle.
- Contribute to the discovery and understanding of new tools, and techniques and propose improvements to the data pipeline.
- Run enterprise class information management solutions across a variety of technologies (e.g., big data, data profiling, batch processing, and data indexing technologies).
- Ensure appropriate security and compliance policies are followed for information access and dissemination.
- Use programming frameworks/languages like core Spark, Python for data transformations on Foundry.
- Work in self-responsible Agile Teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years’ experience; Master’s Degree with 5 years’ experience; PhD with 0 years’ experience.
- Experience in a several data processing roles such as database developer/administrator, ETL developer, data analyst and/or BI analytics developer.
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Python, SQL, Spark, Amazon Web Services.
- Experience with DevOps principals and version control (Git preferred).
- End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization.
- Good communication and presentation skills, being able to explain complex problems and the solutions applied, and comfortable in presenting technical solutions to a nontechnical audience
- Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Fluent English is requested.
- Experience with Veeva, Reltio, SAP and/or Palantir Foundry is a plus.
- Affinity to either performance optimizing, user experience design, automated testing and/or data science is a plus.
