Associate Director, Health Economic Modeler

The Health Economic Modeler will be responsible for supporting the Center of Expertise for economic modeling within the Health Economics and Outcomes Research department.

You will work on design and development of health economic models, including early economic models to inform pricing and market access strategies, global cost-effectiveness and budget impact models and coordinate modeling for specific markets. You will collaborate with AbbVie colleagues from a diversity of disciplines involved with clinical and value development, to support needs for economic modelling and health technology assessment (HTA), of HEOR, Global and Country specific Market Access.

 

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Design and build rigorous models aligned to asset strategy to support product value proposition
  • Use early economic modeling to inform internal pricing and trial design strategy, and value proposition development
  • Provide economic modeling expertise development of country models
  • Provide economic modeling expertise to support planning and strategy for HTA and value assessment submissions and engagement (e.g., ICER/EUNETHTA)
  • Provide timely and strategic recommendations by identifying appropriate comparators, target patient populations, and endpoints for the purpose of relative value demonstration.
  • Identify appropriate analytic tools & modeling platforms for efficient development of transparent models
  • Apply innovative modeling to expand beyond economic modeling into areas such as disease state modeling, capacity modeling, predictive modeling, etc.
  • Contribute to evaluation of new modeling vendors and/or partnerships
  • Communicate with various medical and non-medical stakeholders.
Qualifications:

Basic Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Health Economics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Operations Research, Biostatistics, Public Health , Economics, Epidemiology, Health Administration, or related discipline (MS, MPH, PharmD, PhD) preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of Consultancy, Pharmaceutical Company or Payer experience in the area of Health Economics, Health Technology Assessment, Outcomes Research, Access, or related area
  • In-depth experience with health economic modeling, including cost-effectiveness and budget-impact modeling
  • Hands-on experience with health economic modelling using standard tools, including advanced knowledge of Excel and Visual Basic
  • Experience with quantitative analyses feeding into health economic evaluation
  • Experience with reimbursement submissions to national HTA authorities concerning, including NICE
  • Experience with or knowledge of early health economic modeling to support pricing assessments
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex material and to demonstrate collaboration skills while working within cross-functional international teams
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and creativity as well as the ability to collaborate with a diversity of disciplines and national background

 

Preferred/Desired Competencies & Experience

  • An understanding of the reimbursement requirements in different jurisdictions with a focus on the HTA review process for key international markets
  • Economic modeling in one or more of the therapeutic areas in which AbbVie is developing drugs, including: Immunology, Oncology, Neuroscience, and/or Ophthalmology
  • Experience with accessing country-specific economic data concerning health care interventions including treatment patterns, health care utilization, and unit costs in at least one of the countries of focused interest
  • Health economics experience in a consultancy to pharmaceutical industry and/or pharmaceutical organization
