Senior Manager, Business Relationship Management

The role of the Bay Area Business Relationship Manager within R&D - Information Research (IT) is to lead their team to closely partner with our respective business partners and contribute to the design, development, implementation and support of process, software and data systems used by the AbbVie Bay Area community.
The leader in this role will work closely with our Bay Area colleagues to ensure that the software and information systems developed within IR meet the needs of our scientific community (Internal and External) and align with AbbVie Bay Area business/applications roadmaps. This person will collaborate closely with our business partners to help set the strategy and direction for these roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain productive partnerships with Bay Area functional area leadership, scientists, external collaborations, and other domain experts to develop an AbbVie application and information-integration strategy that seamlessly integrates with the Bay Area Process Lifecycle
- Develop standards, procedures, techniques, and tools for scientific data discovery, access, import, classification, transformation, analysis and associated systems retirement strategy (Working with R&D - IR colleagues)
- Facilitate the development and integration of rapid, efficient, economical and purposeful scientific technology tools, computing resources, and information across AbbVie Bay Area
- Develop and maintain an active continuous improvement approach, including education of other colleagues and evaluation of evolving best practices
- Identify key elements of process improvement and partner with process owners/SME’s to deliver sustainable and repeatable improvements
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies including informing, consulting and involving stakeholders on key initiatives
- Advise area leadership of issues and/or risks to stakeholder relationships as soon as they arise so communications and risks can be managed effectively
- Ensure team members understand the value of – and are committed to – the genuine participation of stakeholders in the development of processes and services designed to meet stakeholder needs (Customer-Focus)
- Manage the evaluation of stakeholder satisfaction and implement strategies across the business to find solutions to areas of concern
- Lead professional development efforts of team members
- Foster a positive and collaborative team oriented working environment
Required:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in delivery of complex scientific and/or information technology projects
- Innovative and motivated with an ability to foster a positive working environment for our colleagues and team members
- Excellent people leadership/collaboration skills and the demonstrated ability to lead a team with a strong customer service outlook
- Demonstrated ability to operate outside areas of formal education
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Information Systems or Life Sciences
- At least 10 years of professional experience in a Drug Discovery/Development Sciences or other biotech environment
- Direct experience working on Drug Discovery/Development Sciences project teams or hands on bench experience, ideally in a Research & Development environment
- Professional software development or software-project management experience with an emphasis on business systems analysis and requirements definition
