Scientist I, Precision Medicine Oncology
AbbVie’s Precision Medicine organization is committed to advancing drug development and patient care through building a deeper understanding of disease biology and developing tools to optimize clinical decision making and customize treatment for patients. As a Scientist I, you will be part of a fast paced and multi-disciplinary team responsible for developing and implementing innovative technologies to enable decision making in clinical trials and evaluate disease and drug biology.
The Oncology Genomics team within Precision Medicine is committed to driving novel translational genomic biomarker efforts for our pre-clinical and clinical stage programs. We are seeking a highly motivated molecular biologist with experiences in genomic methods to join the team at AbbVie Bay Area site and support cutting-edge translational genomic research and biomarker efforts for our drug discovery and development pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Genomics experiments (such as such DNA and RNA extraction, primer design, qPCR) with high quality and reproducibility in a timely manner.
- Perform next generation sequencing library prep experiments independently.
- Generate quality control analysis reports and present them to the team.
- Interpret and draw conclusions from quality control results and optimize assay performance to further project goals.
- Test and adapt novel methodology to advance research in single cell genomics.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary research team in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences field with 2+ years of molecular biology experiences or Bachelor degree with 5+ years of cell biology and molecular biology experiences.
- Broad and versatile technical expertise in molecular biology and cell biology assays such as DNA and RNA extraction, primer design, qPCR, Gene cloning and sequencing library prep etc.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Good general laboratory and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills as well as excellence and productivity in independent research.
- Must be proactive and able to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

- The salary range is (minimum: _$66,500 to maximum:_$130,000)
- This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive program
- This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs
