DESCRIPTION:
AbbVie’s Drug Discovery Science and Technology group is hiring an Associate Scientist II to join Biologics Drug Biology team. This position will impact Discovery projects through characterizing of Multi-Specific Biologics and their components. The successful candidate will develop productive collaborations and communications with other groups across scientific disciplines and will be motivated to innovate and succeed in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position is based at our brand new state-of-the-art South San Francisco campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drug discovery by screening multi-specific antibodies/fusion proteins
- Generate, characterize, and maintain various cell lines including immune and cancer cells
- Perform protein- and cell-based assays to screen drug candidates
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments and open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement
- Critically analyze/interpret data, accurately document, and promptly communicate the results in the form of oral presentation and writing
- Stays current with and quickly adopts new technologies
- Contribute on various projects and foster cross-functional collaborations
- Maintain detailed and organized experimental records

REQUIREMENTS
- BS degree or equivalent education with 2-3 years or MS degree or equivalent education of 0-2 years of research experience in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, immunology, or a related scientific discipline
- Highly motivated to learn new techniques
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Compliant on all relevant internal training requirements
- Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint tools and maintain detailed and organized data records

QUALIFICATIONS:
Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas of academic or industrial research:
- Protein/Antibody expression and purification
- Cell culture and gene transfection/transduction/editing
- Perform Flow cytometry and analyze data
- Perform binding analysis by SPR such as Biacore or Octet and analyze binding kinetics data
- Perform plate-based assays such as ELISA or MSD or Luminex and analyze data
