Reliability Engineer

  • Ensures reliability and maintability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and equipment with an objective to constantly improve site production and cost performance.
  • Promote, support, co-ordinate and facilitate multi-disciplinary, multi-level teamwork (reliability) improvement activities, both proactive & reactive, and assist in implementation and follow-up of action items.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Review the production equipment to ensure reliability and maintainability to minimize equipment unavailability. Constantly strive to improve equipment availability which will drive production needs and cost performance.
  • Network with area, site and corporate Reliability resources to leverage learning and support Corporate, Site, and Area Mechanical Integrity / Quality Improvement initiatives
  • Assist in the development of improved Reliability stategies / program with a view of process safety, yields, capacity and uptime performance. 
  • Provide technical support in Reliability issues and assist in troubleshooting process or equipment issues. Carry out RCFA for the repeated failures and failures that has an impact to production, quality and safety
  • Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations including capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues
  • Perform RCM for all critical assets / systems using RCM software and implement the action items generated from RCM
  • Run online / offline condition monitoring program site wide and predict the failures early
  • Work with project engineering teams to ensure reliability / maintainability of new / modified installations
  • Participate as part of a team to update equipment and processes by implementing modifications ranging from incremental daily improvements to technology game changes
  • Provide inputs to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non reliability-related that could adversely impact plant operations
  • Perform analysis of asset performance including: Asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness, remaining useful life and capital replacement plans as well as other parameters that define Site MEP KPIs such as availability, maintenance performance, reliability and R&M costs of assets
  • Ensure individual / team compliance with AbbVie core values and policies, including but not limited to quality and EHS,
  • Familiarize with Maximo and act as back-up support to Maintenance planning / scheduling function as and when needed
  • Assist Maintenance Manager to evaluate content of maintenance plans in CMMS including methods, maintenance frequencies and spare parts needed

  • Degree or Masters in Engineering (Biomedical / Civil / Chemical / Electrical & Electronics / Instrumentation / Material Science / Mechanical / Pharmaceutical)
  • 0 - 2 years of relevant work experience in Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical / Aerospace / Chemical / Energy & Power / Oil & Gas industries is preferred
  • Comfortable working in a team and matrix environments; high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Strong scientific approach to solving problems; makes data based decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of CMMS, Reliability and proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Project).
  • Sound knowledge on vibration analysis, RCM and RBI.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a "hands-on" attitude.
  • Six Sigma familiarity and/or certification and cGMP experience are plus.
  • Basic knowledge/understanding on functional areas.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Project).
  • Ability to work with all departments & external vendors.
  • Willing to work on extended hours to assist major maintenance overhauls.
