We have a new opportunity for a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join our Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team. In this career opportunity you will be responsible for working within the Data & Analytics solutions team to deliver reporting and dashboard solutions that meet the needs of the organization. The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for successfully collaborate with local business teams (key stakeholders) as well as from Global analytics and integration and support functions focused on delivering solutions to functions within AbbVie Canada. This position is based in Montreal (Saint-Laurent) and reports to the Data and Analytics Solutions Lead.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, develop, valid, and implement data reports.
- Ability to analyze issues within data reports.
- Design and build lists, graphs, scorecards, metrics, filters, prompts, and dashboards.
- Follow and enhance BI standards and best practices across the team.
- Collaborate and mentor cross-functional team members on methodology, design, and architecture.
- Ensure optimal end user performance by establishing and consistently executing overall system performance assessment processes and associated action plans.
- Provide consultation on complex projects and act as a top-level contributor.
- Partner in a team setting, along with the data engineer and business analysts from functions and have excellent organizational, prioritization, communication, and time management skills.
Education / Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
- Previous experience with technology with a strong focus on DataWarehouse and enterprise reporting solutions (minimum of five to seven years).
- Developing applications, reports, and dashboards experience (minimum of five years).
- Developing reports against an OLAP data source. Strong SQL skills and experience with performance tuning are required (minimum of four years).
- Strong ability to troubleshoot.
- BI development, testing and change management (minimum of four years).
- Understanding of pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
- Ability to think and plan strategically (work plans, activities, timetables, targeting) and operating with execution excellence.
Essential skills and abilities:
- Must be at ease with technology (the use of various tools/systems to perform day-to-day tasks).
- Extensive ability and proven experience with report development using various tools (Qlik suite preferrable or Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- Ability to design and plan scalable BI solutions.
- Strong SQL Developer skills.
- Comprehension of Hadoop/Hive/Big data preferred.
- Expertise working with relational and multidimensional database schemas and writing queries.
- Ability to solve real-world business problems by designing and building queries sourced from OLAP (online analytical processing) cubes, applying data mining algorithms, writing queries, and designing reports using various tool sets and a SQL Server data warehouse.
- Expertise in DataWarehouse, ETL and report design and development.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
- French and Advanced English language proficiency (oral and written).
