Sr. Compliance Analyst
North Chicago, Illinois Req ID 2208764 Category Compliance Division AbbVieResponsible for development and implementation of Corporate Function compliance U.S. monitoring plans, conducting live and virtual monitoring activities, records/analytics review, email review, and supporting the development of accurate and complete metric reporting of monitoring findings to leadership and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Analyst performs the following activities to support all Corporate Functions with moderate to significant supervision from Compliance Associate Director:
- Informs, supports, and executes on a progressive strategy for OEC monitoring programs and makes recommendations on Compliance monitoring program enhancements and improvements with a focus on operationalizing and automating monitoring activities and relevant reporting.
- Possesses in-depth working knowledge of AbbVie’s business, internal policies and procedures, general industry practices, as well as the external risk environment. Notifies Compliance Associate Director of required updates to monitoring processes as business activities evolve and opportunities for improvement are identified in AbbVie’s business activities and processes based on results.
- Manages the compliance email monitoring process by working with OEC business compliance colleagues to establish targeted, risk-driven keywords, running searches, performing review of emails, and tracking required remediation through completion.
- Establishes monitoring requirements based on AbbVie policies and procedures, develops documents and templates used for conducting monitoring and identifies and escalates changes in business policy and processes that impact monitoring.
- Provides ongoing updates and prepares monitoring metric reports to OEC business compliance, management, leadership and other cross-functional stakeholders. Performs trend analysis and provides remediation recommendations – proactively reviewing with management and ensuring complete and accurate information is provided in a timely manner to address compliance risk.
- Maintains current monitoring tools/systems and working documents that support and enable the Monitoring program.
- Works across the Office of Ethics and Compliance and cross-functionally on the communication, tracking, and facilitation of monitoring activities and centralized monitoring processes.
- Partners with multiple business functions and stakeholders to provide OEC and functional operational compliance guidance.
- Partners with OEC Risk team to support risk assessment pull through and provides ongoing feedback based on results to inform the risk landscape.
- Supports the broader Brand Compliance Support team in various compliance activities.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 75% of the time to perform live monitoring.
- Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience with, or exposure to, business functions such as compliance, audit, legal, regulatory affairs, or finance.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize, schedule and manage multiple, complex projects and activities.
- Change agile – Ability to be flexible and adjust strategy based on the evolving business needs, compliance risks and program enhancements.
- Detail oriented – Ability to identify and remediate lack of consistency in monitoring process execution and documentation
- Inquisitive and open minded – Ability to learn, understand and guide without bias to bring the best solution or alternatives that supports an efficient and effective Compliance program.
- Working knowledge of Smartsheet, MS Word, Visio, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook.
- Preferred: Background in measurement, analytics, and data analysis.
