Senior Scientist I - Virology
Primary North Chicago, Illinois Req ID 2212158 Category Research and Development Division AbbVieOperations Science and Technology Virology team is seeking candidate with virology experience for on-market technical services, including support of Quality and Regulatory Compliance. Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques and experimental approaches to address complex viral safety, control and testing hurdles. Develop productive collaborations and communications with other groups across science disciplines to establish process conditions for viral control related to process improvements, as well as regulatory strategies. Open, honest, and candid communication is expected to nurture creative continuous improvements. Must be focused to achieve success for AbbVie and be passionate about having a remarkable impact on the patients we serve.
Primary responsibilities:
- Virology support for animal-sourced API including quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR), in vitro cell culture virus infectivity assay, and immunofluorescence troubleshooting and method improvements
- Writing and reviewing scientific reports and regulatory submissions
- Work will involve potentially biohazardous viruses in BioSafety Level 2 (BSL-2) facilities
- Understanding relevant scientific literature and applying theoretical framework to solving problems in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Virology with at least 5 years of experience.
Preferred Skills:
- qPCR- method development, execution, optimization and troubleshooting
- Cell culture
- Microscopy
- Molecular biology
- Aseptic technique
- Immunofluorescence
- Viral clearance procedures
- Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve problems
- Knowledge and experience working in cGMP environment
- Ability to work within a Cross Functional Team (CFT) environment
- Knowledge of Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) Regulatory issues
