Senior Scientist I.II, Pharmacology - Migraine Research

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist/Pharmacologist who will lead efforts to design, execute, and communicate novel multi-disciplinary research in a highly collaborative Migraine drug discovery program. Primary responsibilities will be to conduct in vivo and cellular studies for target validation, evaluation of novel compounds, as well as to steer the development of approaches for target engagement and translational biomarkers. He/She will also lead the development of new models representative of human acute and chronic Migraine and will generate high-quality data reports to support the identification and development of novel therapeutics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively progressing novel compounds to treat Migraine through preclinical evaluation in an exciting, fast-paced team environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • In vivo evaluation (behavior) of novel therapeutics to treat Migraine.
  • Develop translatable in vivo and/or cellular models for target validation and compound evaluation.
  • Formulate and administer novel therapeutics to rats and mice.
  • Highly autonomous and productive in performing laboratory research, with minimal direction from supervisor.
  • Demonstrates scientific initiative and creativity in research activities.
  • Formulate conclusions and design follow-on experiments based on multidisciplinary data.
  • Generate detailed and accurate reports of study outcomes.
  • Innovative thinking, adaptable, and creative to move the science forward in new directions.
  • A primary author of publications and presentations.

Qualifications

Job level will be commensurate with experience.

  • PhD degree or equivalent in Neuroscience, Biology or other relevant natural sciences.
  • 0-2+ years of relevant migraine pharmacology experience.
  • Hands-on experience in the laboratory working with rodents is required.
  • Experience with small animal surgeries would be an asset.
  • Experience with “functional” cellular/molecular assays or ex vivo techniques would be preferential (e.g., peptide release, calcium imaging, biomarker quantification, artery vasodilation).
  • Ability to contribute independently, but also integrate well into a team to work across multiple scientific disciplines and functions.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities by influencing scientific discussions, and has shown expertise in advancing Migraine related projects.
  • Ability to independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative scientific environment with strong communication skills.
  • Experience in a drug discovery setting is a plus.
