Purpose Statement

Provide "skilled trade" Project support to the manufacturing, research and development laboratories, warehouses, and office facilities, performing all types of complex building maintenance and construction work within responsibilities.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Does layout, cuts, fabricates, fits and installs doors, windows, partitions, benches and other items as required, including cabinets and custom shelving, etc.
  • Must be able to install door closers, hinges and locks, and have the ability to re-key locks and cut the associated keys per request. Hang pictures and other wall mountings and does rearrangement work to office furniture and wall systems.
  • Can do complete painting work including surface preparation. Also does wood finishing including sanding, staining and varnishing.
  • Must be able to read and understand construction drawings to determine the appropriateness of design and install per specifications..
  • Assists with material and labor cost estimates and material take-offs.
  • Access FRF’s (furniture request forms) from Blueprint system and perform associated activities
  • Install and repair sit stands
  • Must be a “Competent Person” for Safeway scaffold systems and be able to build required scaffolds and be able to perform daily inspections within OSHA guidelines
  • Install drop ceilings  
  • Assists in ensuring that GxP and safe work policies and procedures are followed and maintained at all times in accordance with established company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school education and a minimum of 5-6 years of increasing job knowledge and responsibility in the field of building construction/maintenance including completion of an approved apprentice program for carpentry or equivalent.
  • Will be able to perform advanced troubleshooting and building repairs and to install associated equipment and accessories according to applicable standards.
  • Must be an expert in the operation of all types of hand tools and shop equipment utilized in the building maintenance trade, including routers, planners, band saws, table saws, concrete saws, core boring equipment, etc.
  • On an independent basis, the individual must be able to evaluate the use of various resources and make knowledgeable decisions in regard to safety and company standards and policies.
  • Must have a good understanding of Abbvie Engineering Standards and their application to facility maintenance.
  • Must know all CMMS functions that pertain to project related jobs.
  • Must have experience with installation and required parts for Herman Miller, DO3, and Steelcase 9000 cubicles along with installation of Dirtt and Steelcase high wall systems.
  • Experience completing commercial carpentry work including casework installation
  • Must be able to read and review construction plans and drawings to determine the appropriateness of design, installation.
