The Director, Global Employee Resource Group and Communities, EEDI will be accountable to develop and implement projects, interventions, best practices, guidelines and/or programs that enable our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Communities to deliver on the strategy, goals and outcomes of our global EED&I and business efforts. 


Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure there is a cohesive global operating strategy within our Employee Resource Groups and consistency in understanding, approach and implementation of the 4C Operating Model
  • Help deliver the EED&I strategy with a clear roadmap and measurable outcomes to support our long-term EED&I goals for Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Communities.
  • Manage all ERG and Communities related external conferences, partnerships, sponsorships, speakers, and community collaborations.
  • Contribute to the increased transparency and communication of Employee Resource Groups and Communities through engaging in and reporting to the business through various internal channels and annual reports.
  • Act as liaison with Employee Resource Group leader for communications alignment and coordination, including branding and social media.
  • Oversee the ERG operating budgets and finance processes.
  • Implement appropriate measurements to track efforts and accomplishments of all global ERGs, report progress bi-annually to ERG executive sponsors and EED&I Leadership Team.
  • Stay up to date on external best practices and benchmarking to ensure AbbVie stays ahead of the pack in ERG best practices, strategy, and future aspirations.
  • Provide leadership, management, and guidance around to the Employee Resource Groups and Communities.
  • Cultivate an inclusive work environment where diversity is embraced and developed and where all employees feel valued and have a profound sense of belonging.



Qualifications - External


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related Field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience; with demonstrated superior knowledge of EED&I and best practices.
  • Solid understanding of EED&I in the workplace and commitment to building a diverse and inclusive culture.
  • Proven track record of leading and implementing larger-scale global programs and projects.
  • High organization and detail orientation with the ability to multi-task and handle heavy workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills plus interpersonal and presentation skills to drive results.
  • Excellent convincing and influencing skills building high credibility with senior management.
  • Experience building and influencing relationships/stakeholders with various backgrounds and cultures to execute objectives.
  • Effectively deals with difficult situations, negotiates persuasively, has a clear opinion and conveys ideas to the point.
  • Ability to work in and thrive in a changing business environment.
  • Experience operating within a large, complex, matrixed organization.
  • Ability to establish credibility across the organization to lead volunteers.
