Senior Business Information Management Specialist/ Manager, Business Systems:
This role provides capability strategy, roadmap and planning of Instrument and Laboratory Automation solutions in BTS Quality Labs operations. IT Manager works closely with Business and BTS organization to conduct an advanced business analysis, evaluation and development of the global Lab Automation and Instrument platforms, including systems such as CDS, Lab Automation, SDMS, Environmental monitoring and other solutions.
IT Manager supports lab informatics services within the framework of defined BTS operating principles and in close coordination with BTS and operations Compliance. The role provides Lab instruments capability support of various software platforms for laboratory operations to get and process scientific data. Support activities will mainly focus on lab instrumentation, acquiring data and records into enterprise Global solutions and standalone lab equipment.
IT Manager partners with Business Lab leadership, external vendors, subject matter experts, and other internal stakeholders to assess and/or improve upon lab informatics needs, inclusive of instrument software and interfaces, lab automation tools, and informatics data management systems in use within the Abbvie Quality labs
IT Manager develops and promotes business cases for projects, coordinates projects execution, which deliver new and improved lab informatics capabilities, collaborates very closely with Lab CoE across functional stakeholders in Quality Labs. The incumbent will work with Quality Assurance, use risk-based approaches to assess compliance impacts, develop and maintain system documentation for supported applications, and contributes into computer systems validation activities into system implementation and change control activities where necessary.
IT Manager establishes and maintains strong relationships with vendors providing software, service, and support of laboratory information systems.
Education and Experience:
Essential Skills, Experience, and Competencies (includes Licenses, Credentials): 5-7 years’ experience working in an IT organization supporting a pharmaceutical research environment, including support of laboratory IT systems. Hands on experience with typical laboratory software systems (LIMS, ELN, CDS, Inventory, Asset Management). Strong interpersonal and communication skills –within IT as well as with scientists. Ability to multitask and prioritize among competing demands. Ability to be self-directed and work independently within the framework of the IT and cross-functional scientific organization. Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
Previous experience with one or more of the following systems is important: Waters Empower, SDMS, Asset Management, LIMS or other enterprise Lab systems.
Significant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
