Vision Product Owner

The Vision Product Owner sits within AbbVie’s Business Technology Solutions – Information Research organization.  Vision is our proprietary clinical study analytics platform that is leveraged across the R&D organization to manage the operational aspects of clinical trials.  This leadership role will serve as the technical product owner for this critical business system.

  • Overall technical team leader for this business critical system

  • Ability to clearly and succinctly translate business ideas and concepts into tangible product features

  • Driving and leading a high performing matrixed team made up of both colleagues and contractors, both onsite and remote

  • Delivering the art of simplicity for our business customers in providing technology that enables them to simply understand at-times complicated data sets

  • Relationship Management: Establish and maintain high-quality relationships with all levels across Information Research, Business Technology Solutions, the Development organization and with external partners. 

  • Strategic Thinking: Understands development organizations vision, goals and strategies. Develops appropriate IT strategies aligned with the business. Champion change and innovation. Stimulates creativity and innovation in others. Open to new ideas. Supports those who initiate change and take risks.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with 10 years experience; Preferably in business, information systems, or business analytics

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience, specifically centered on clinical study operations is preferred  but not rate limiting with the right candidate

  • Past experience managing cross-functional teams is preferred

  • An understanding of software development and agile delivery methodologies is preferred

  • Demonstrated experience creating things from pure concepts (are you a dreamer?  Can you see the unseen and help develop and deliver it?)

  • Operate within broad goals and objectives.
  • Make strategic decisions that impact a broad set of organizational stakeholders.
Significant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
