Project Coordinator, R&D Engineering

Purpose:
The R&D Engineering Team is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individual for a position as Project Coordinator. R&D Engineering supports AbbVie’s investment in R&D facilities and infrastructure making a positive impact on the culture of “World Class” science, agility and innovation. This position works with scientists, engineers, and construction services to review scope and identify materials/labor required to perform tasks, order materials, and estimate labor requirements to support the completion of project within scope of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs a combination of specialized duties involved in the planning, estimating, scheduling, and organizing of project related jobs.
  • Interprets construction blueprints in order to provide competitive cost estimates; Conducts field checks before planning.
  • Familiar with AbbVie standards and specs along with codes governing the tasks which are being estimated.
  • Estimates time for jobs, prepares material list and specifies tools and necessary safety equipment when required.
  • Orders parts from stockroom; initiates purchase requisitions for job materials and spare parts.
  • Coordinates work with other Supervisors, Group Leaders, and operating departments. May instruct a trades person in the proper method or procedure of performing the job.
  • Supports development of project strategy to align and achieve key customer business objectives. Works with customers on project scope development and collaborates with cross functional teams in resolving project hurdles. 
  • Reviews constructability strategy.  Anticipates and resolves problems requiring fast, astute decisions with rapid implementation by utilizing technical training and / or experience.
  • Coordinates and runs laboratory and equipment moves while working with lab users, trade partners, third party equipment vendors, movers, and EHS.
  • Will be required to regularly lift a minimum of 25 Ibs, occasionally a maximum of 50 Ibs. during the work shift. 

Basic:

  • Must have a high school education or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a trade specific to position applying for within a commercial or industrial work environment.
  • Good math skills are essential.
  • Good human relation, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Must be experienced with computer maintenance management systems, e-mail, and calendaring.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have multi-skilled trades capability and be familiar with the application and operation of all basic maintenance tools and equipment used by various trades groups.
  • Must be knowledgeable of various computer systems and programs used in maintenance operations.
  • Must be able to read and understand technical drawings.
Significant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
