Purpose :
The Director of Convergence Data Governance will lead the development and implementation of thoughtful governance policies and practices that help drive innovation through cross-functional data sharing while also managing any potential risks associated with such data sharing. This role will work closely with leaders from different functions in R&D, Business Technology Solutions, Legal, Privacy, and Compliance to build best-in-class data governance practices. Success in this role will include:

Responsibilities :

• Possessing strong knowledge of data related legal and regulatory requirements, including privacy, IP, licensing, and other emerging trends across different geographies
• Creating data governance strategy and a roadmap for implementation
• Providing balanced approach to risk-based governance solutions
• Developing lean, “right-sized” data governance policies and processes
• Facilitating the development and implementation / automation of data quality and protection standards
• Acting as a bridge between business, technology and functional areas on governance
• Working effectively cross-functionally to define standards and operationalize/automate governance in the most efficient and “user-friendly” way possible
• Partnering with functional data stewards
• Managing the “day-to-day” of the Convergence governance program

Qualifications :

• Degree in a related field (e.g., data science, computer science, or legal)
• 10+ years experience in a data-related role in a regulated industry (experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry highly preferred)
• Experience building or advising on requirements for data and analytics platforms
• Experience solving challenges associated with cross-functional data sharing (cultural, legal, and technical)
• Working knowledge of current technology tools available for managing access and use of data assets
• Working knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks for data usage (e.g., privacy, licensing, intellectual property)
• Demonstrated interest in and ability to learn about emerging trends in data innovation in the pharmaceutical and healthcare space
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships across functions
