The Search and Evaluation group actively supports the global Business Development (BD) goals by executing on strategic opportunities from academic institutions, biotech/ pharma companies and venture firms for potential research collaborations, in-licensing/ out-licensing assets, venture investments, and company acquisitions. The group is responsible for leading the global search efforts for assets and/or compounds of high strategic value aligning with the strategic direction of Research & Development’s pipeline goals, and conducting thorough technical due diligence to ensure an in-depth understanding of the science behind each of the those opportunities.

• Triage incoming assets or compounds (a.k.a. opportunities) to the appropriate S&E resources for further assessment and evaluation of potential future growth opportunities for AbbVie, managing the opportunity management tracking system, and monitoring / communicating status of open reviews to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage the cataloguing, input and monitoring of 150-200 potential asset / compound opportunities per month in the AbbVie partnering management tool (e.g. Inova). Triage incoming opportunities received via multiple input mechanisms (e.g. AbbVie Home and departmental mail box) including assigning key data elements to each opportunity and assigning to the appropriate S&E owner.
• Responsible for initiating and drafting appropriate communications in a timely manner to external stakeholders, including those that presented the opportunity to AbbVie, that address the status of an opportunity and/or soliciting additional information needed to appropriately determine key data elements for a given opportunity. External stakeholders can include scientists in academia, academic institutions, and consortia.
• Accurately determine key descriptor information for incoming opportunities, including a description of the asset, its stage in the discovery or development process, in a consistent, timely and accurate manner.
• Design and run reports utilizing the opportunity database that meet the criteria, intent and purpose of ongoing requests from cross-functional stakeholders.
• Responsible for scheduling and coordinating of partnering meetings with external companies at 7-10 global scientific meetings and industry forums such as BIO, ASCO, AACR , AAN etc. on an annual basis.
• Responsible for coordinating meeting logistics and travel arrangements for AbbVie participants for internal and external meetings.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 1-3 years of professional work experience, including database management experience
• Ability to multi-task and work within timelines. Ability to organize and prioritize individual work-flow
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and thrive in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment
• Strong organizational, process-oriented, communication and inter-personal skills required
• Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
