Associate Director – Enterprise Architecture – US Patient Services & Consumer Marketing

AbbVie US Commercial Business Technology Solutions (BTS) organization is looking for an Associate Director of Enterprise Architecture for the US Commercial Patient Services and Consumer Marketing domains to be part of the Technology Services and Architecture team to lead the technology strategy, architecture strategy & planning, platform evaluation & on boarding, DevOps strategy & implementation, application architecture, integration architecture, data architecture, infrastructure architecture, MarTech/digital solutions architecture, technology, platform and solutions governance, etc. across systems of engagements, systems of records, systems of insights and systems of activation within our ecosystem, to modernize and transform the patient relationship management platform, data, analytics and marketing technology capabilities, and to deliver end-to-end next generation technology capabilities to elevate the patient and user experience.

This position will manage the multi-year technology architecture roadmap to modernize and establish the centralized patient relationship management platform using Salesforce Service / Health / Experience cloud, digital marketing hub ecosystem using various technology platforms such as Adobe Experience platform (CDP), Salesforce marketing cloud, AWS, Snowflake, Power BI, Datorama, etc.

This position will report to BTS Director of Architecture and Technology Services for Patient Services and consumer marketing, and will partner with IT strategy & planning team, IT functional leads, Solutions management team, Solutions engineering team, Solutions Delivery team and Operations team, Customer Experience team, Patient Services business function leads, Marketing Analytics & Business Insights team and brand marketing team to translate the solution needs into technology capabilities, define the architecture & design, govern the implementation and oversee the delivery of best-in-class technology solutions for US Patient Services and Consumer Marketing functions.

This position will be responsible to lead a team of Solutions Architects, Technical Architect, Data Architect, etc., evaluate the performance of those individuals and is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Centralized Enterprise architecture team that is responsible to understand the business strategy, business processes, business drivers, solution strategies, and define the technology and architecture strategy in alignment with the business strategy & organization vision for all brand patient service programs and digital marketing hub solutions for patient services & consumer marketing business functions.
  • Lead the enterprise architecture management to standardize the business and technology capabilities across multiple portfolios to promote reusability, maximize the utilization of IT infrastructure and achieve operational efficiencies.
  • Define goals for technology components and frameworks including reference architectures, solution design and implementations for CRM/Data/Analytics/MarTech solutions, including, but not limited to Salesforce Service/Health Cloud, TIBCO, .NET, CDP, Marketing Automation, AWS, Power BI, Datorama, etc.
  • Define core architecture and architecture guiding principles and ensure compliance to the defined principle.
  • Conduct formal technical research and define adoption process to solve business problems and improve patient experience.
  • Define and manage the technology architecture roadmap for digital transformation initiatives to launch next generation patient services platform using range of technologies across Salesforce Service/Health/Experience Cloud, Adobe Experience Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, AWS, Power BI, etc.
  • Work with the Solutions managers, Product Owners, Solutions Architect, Business Analysts, and technical architect to prioritize, groom, design, and estimate the epics/user stories across multiple portfolios.
  • Develop architecture & design for new business capabilities, build proof of concepts, demonstrate the solution to solutions managers, product owner and business leads, and obtain approval for implementation. 
  • Define and enforce design standards (Coding principles and best practices); Conduct regular audits of the solutions to ensure development team is adhering to the design standards; Review the detailed design and code during development cycle to ensure the system meets the defined acceptance criteria for the features.
  • Define and establish release & deployment strategy, including but not limited to configuration management, release management, code branching strategy in version control system, CI/CD pipeline, etc. to gain productivity improvements and reduce the time taken to move the committed code to production.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, technology providers, and other architects to develop technology and information architectures, strategies, and roadmaps.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical business and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Recognized and sought out as an expert in his/her discipline within the company and possibly externally.
  • Shapes relationships with affiliates, subsidiaries, vendors, and industry peers in accordance with Abbvie Values, Vendor Management Office, and Purchasing to further the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 years’ experience; Master's Degree with 8 years’ experience; PhD with 4 years’ experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience as Enterprise architect, with hands-on experience in EA frameworks like TOGAF.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience as Solutions Architect with hands-on experience in defining the architecture strategy, implementation roadmap, design, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in Salesforce.com implementation, with experience working in service cloud, marketing cloud, force.com preferred. 
  • 3-5 years of experience implementing MarTech platforms such as CDP, DMP, Marketing Automation Platform, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in architecting and implementing custom web, mobile and integration solutions using .NET, TIBCO or similar stack.
  • Experience defining comprehensive solution architecture, identifying gaps between current and future state solutions, define transition plan, rollout and deliver solution that meets the business outcomes. 
  • Experience in understanding the business strategy and translating it into technology strategy.
  • Experience in implementing different design patters for solutions implementation.
  • Hands-on experience in any object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Python, and in SQL.
  • Hands-on experience in building cloud applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Hands-on CI/CD DevOps knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, influencing skills, and people management skills.
  • Experience working in agile environment at scale, with experience in agile frameworks like SAFe preferred.
  • Experience with Waterfall, Agile and Iterative Development Methodologies and Practices.
  • Experience in building solutions in compliance with HIPAA, GxP regulations is preferred.
