Strategic Planning Lead

This role requires a blend of analytical and intuitive skills; an understanding of marketing and consumer insights; and an ability to work with cross-functional teams. Reporting to the Executive Creative Director, you will play a critical role as there is no great creative without great strategy. Our team will thrive with you providing the latest consumer insights, category trends, media opportunities, cultural moments and everything new and notable that could impact the work we bring to market. To that end, we believe you are a lover of behavior. Curious and connected. Consistently mining for insights in traditional and nontraditional ways. And very comfortable with ingesting large amounts of data from any source. You are known for pulling everything together to build a concise and inspiring direction in a brief that creative teams appreciate. You deliver with gravitas and excitement getting teams engaged with opportunities that may be as simple as a post or as complex as an integrated campaign. We’re looking for a great strategist who balances inspiration, intuition and grounding—as well as knows that the consumer is at the heart of everything we do.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of creative briefs for our in-house team across our portfolio of brands
- Understand and translate business objectives and success metrics into actionable integrated briefs
- Unearth and compile key insights to influence creative campaign development
- Deliver engaging briefing sessions that offer inspiration, confidence, and opportunity unlocks
- Identify primary research opportunities to uncover new consumer and brand truths
- Participate in ideation sessions as a partner to creative teams
- Partner with research and marketing teams to input on survey or brand tracker to ensure the team has key metrics required
- Provide actionable feedback in reviews to ensure work always aligns to strategy as it finds its way to full realization
- Contribute as a thought leader—bring proactive trends, insights, and competitive intelligence to continually inspire creative and marketing teams
- Build support for sell-in to key stakeholders for presentations
- Create customer journeys and communication mappings to support integrated campaign needs and complex segmentation
- Create close collaborative partnerships with brand marketing, research, and creative team members
- Work with consumer insights and brand marketers on qualitative and quantitative research
Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience in creative strategy or strategic planning at an agency or brand marketing team; experience in experience in beauty, retail, health or CPG a plus
- Bachelor's degree, Certifications, or equivalent working experience in a marketing or communications field
- Ability to author clear, concise and inspiring briefs
- Experience with brand positioning, channel strategy, and customer journeys
- Ability to partner on go-to-market campaign planning and comms architecture (as needed)
- Strong storytelling skills to deliver impactful reports and presentations that communicate complex ideas with ease
- Passion for behavioral science with a deep understanding of human behaviors and needs
- Comfortable and experienced with all marketing comms channels and building digital-first programs
- Strong acumen for marketing measurement and tools
- Skilled in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and G-suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent experience
