Following AMA Manual of Style, proofreads and edits all advertising, marketing, and promotional copy for clients’ product lines and corporate needs, and professional educational materials to maintain high quality of clients’ print materials as perceived by health care professionals and patients or consumers. 


Also acts as associate copywriter on advertising, marketing, educational, and promotional projects that require added creative support.  Works with creative director, senior copywriter, other copywriters, as well as art directors, account executives, vendors, production staff, and clients on these projects.

  1. Examines printed promotional and educational materials for adherence to correct spelling, grammar, placement of photos, figures and lettering, factual and legal criteria references, and citations.  Edits copy to incorporate suggestions from clients and Medical and Legal into written promotional and educational pieces.  Determines that the materials adhere to regulatory requirements in all regards and meet AMA Manual of Style as well as clients’ standards of quality and excellence to maintain the image of clients to regulatory agencies, health professionals, and to consumers/patients. 



  1. Functioning as the QC inspector, reviews all agency materials to verify conformance to specifications of clients, copywriters, and/or art directors to assume zero-defect control.


      Based on interaction with Legal, updates list of Allergan domestic and international registered and trademarked products, as required according to corporate and legal standards.  Ensures competitive companies and products are properly cited in clients’ advertising and promotional materials. 





Education and Experience

•  Bachelors degree required with specialization in writing and/or literature. 

•  An additional one to two years experience in the field of advertising (preferably in a medical area), with knowledge of proofreading marks, medical copy and grammatical standards.

•  Ability to effectively interact with a broad range of superiors, peers and vendors, exhibiting excellent oral and written communications skills. 

•  Ability to work independently without significant direct supervision and under real-time constraints. 

Significant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
