Allergan Data Labs is on a mission to transform the Allergan Aesthetics beauty business at AbbVie, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Our iconic brands include Botox, CoolSculpting, Juvéderm, and more. The medical aesthetics business is ripe for rapid growth and disruption, and we are looking for an experienced Director of QA Engineering to add to our high-performing team to do just that.

Our team has successfully launched a new and innovative technology platform, Allē, which serves millions of consumers, tens of thousands of aesthetics providers, and thousands of colleagues throughout the US. Since its launch in November 2020, Allē has delivered curated promotions, personalized experiences, and millions of consumers use it as part of their beauty journey. Now, we are looking for a Director of QA Engineering to drive our QA Engineering team as we prepare to launch a new array of game-changing technologies on our successfully adopted platform.

We're looking for a Director of QA Engineering interested in working within a startup-oriented environment while having the backing of a very large company. If that's you, please read on.

As the Director of QA Engineering, you will report to the Executive Director, Engineering and continuously collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to solve the most critical technical problems.

You Will

  • Manage, lead, and mentor a team of 10+ QA Managers, QA Engineers, and Analysts.
  • Proactively set the QA department's overall roadmap and vision with research, presentation, and implementation of best practices.
  • Elevate the quality of engineering across the organization by improving documentation, encouraging automation, and process improvements.
  • Sit at the intersection of Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product, and Design, enabling all these functions to contribute to the definition and delivery of great products.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and coach a highly cohesive team exuding passion and ownership for their work.
  • Care about who you work with and how work is done. We hire carefully, and the entire team is allowed to take part in evaluating potential hires

Required Experience & Technical Skills

  • 10+ years as a QA Engineer, with a strong background in QA process, techniques, and tools.
  • 6+ years of experience leading teams, scaling, and mentoring QA Engineers and Analysts.
  • In-depth familiarity with a variety of testing methodologies including unit, integration, functional, manual, load and regression.
  • You've managed QA Engineers and have set up successful test suites to cover unit, integration, e2e, load, and security tests in a CI/CD pipeline environment.
  • Experience testing React Native (bonus) or Native applications for iOS and Android.
  • Self-motivated, willing to take ownership, show follow-through, solve challenging problems and deliver on promised solutions.
  • You've worked in cross-functional Agile Scrum teams and rely on proven management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and white-boarding skills.
  • Extreme drive that is contagious, mixed with high standards for the product features being delivered.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field; or comparable experience.
