Program Manager, Data Governance- Franchise

The US Patient Services team is an industry leading organization, providing unparalleled patient support that results in improved brand loyalty and patient satisfaction.  The Program Manager, Data Governance reports to the Associate Director, Data Governance and Operations and is responsible for applying data governance expertise and strong tactical skills that will be leveraged to enable data management solutions, to meet present and future business needs across the US Patient Services Immunology, Specialty, and CNS portfolios.  The candidate will be passionate about how data is created, consumed governed, shared, and utilized within the organization and will easily adjust to rapid changes in people, process, and product.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Work to champion data literacy within the U.S. Patient Services organization and help drive adoption rates – create and foster a data driven culture, while bridging gaps between departments and supporting lead with building content to getting buy-in for initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, operational metric reporting and act as needed to assure Data Governance KPIs are achieved. Synthesize data & insights and apply this information to program refinement and new initiative development
  • Be a subject matter expert in the US Patient Services data and governance processes and serve as the first line in assisting other business and technology partners in the resolution of Data issues (Quality, Data Loss, Privacy, etc.,)
  • Identify new areas of opportunity and benefits of centralized data governance beyond the current organizational thinking
  • Responsible for directing internal and external data resources towards driving commercial effectiveness for the U.S. Patient Services team, through technology, business, and data analytics


  • Have a good understanding of Data Governance, Data Management, Data Mining, Prep, Insights & Analysis, ML-AI, and Statistics
  • Able to manage team’s relationship with stakeholders (BTS, MABI, Patient Services Marketing, Enterprise Excellence, Patient Outreach, etc.) to coordinate activities across capabilities and working well in a cross-functional team to execute initiatives successfully
  • Able to create, develop, and implement project plans in fast paced environment and clearly communicate complex and technical tasks
  • Able to come up with effective and efficient ways of managing, collecting, exploring, and analyzing data to improve the usability and quality of critical data/information
  • Understand and analyze different data management tools/software to centralize and democratize access to datasets for all stakeholders, breaking down silos between teams and facilitating data access for all
  • Be comfortable in conversations about Data architecture, database management, and how data governance applies in each scenario
  • Some coding experience, SQL, knowledge of big data technologies
  • Identifies opportunities to improve operational metric reporting/platform system reporting and acts as needed to assure KPI’s are achieved. Synthesize data/insights and apply this information to program refinement and new initiative development. 
  • Provide tactical leadership and strategic direction of all platform solutions supporting customer needs & US Patient Services objectives and tactics.  Encompass a “One AbbVie” mindset and perspective in all strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with significant exposure to various facets of Data Governance and information management including data strategy creation and data lifecycle management
  • Proven experience implementing Data Governance program and track record of successful delivery of enterprise data management initiatives is a must
  • Experience managing large scale Data Governance initiatives with cross functional teams. Data Governance experience in cloud-based environments, AWS preferred
  • Experience with Data Governance tools, data architecture and implementing technology solutions related to data governance including privacy enhancing technologies
  • Knowledge of Data Governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Superb ability to represent data in graphical form
  • Excellent program management and prioritization skills
  • Strong Engagement skills (Internal & External)
  • Successful demonstrated experience managing and working with internal cross-functional teams and product engineering groups
  • Through understanding of data protection laws & regulations, privacy & security compliance frameworks
  • Ability to cater communication to a wide range of technical, clinical, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience with cloud data analytics tools like Snowflake, Alteryx, Splunk
