Senior Scientist II/ Principal Research Scientist I, In Vivo Pharmacology, Parkinson’s Disease
Cambridge, Massachusetts Req ID 2203528 Category Research and Development Division AbbVieAbbVie is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, lab-based Senior Scientist with experience working with biologics and small molecules in preclinical models of Parkinson’s disease to join the In Vivo Pharmacology team at AbbVie's Cambridge Research Center (CRC). The successful candidate will independently design and implement experiments to address target engagement, mechanisms-of-action and efficacy of therapeutic molecules
Key Responsibilities
- Mange team of 1 – 2 scientist to establish and validate in vivo models of Parkinson’s disease for target validation, mechanism of action and efficacy studies with novel therapeutics
- Collaborate with key internal and external scientists to drive improved understanding of disease pathophysiology and target biology
- Organize and manage efficient collaborations across functions and with external partners
Position will be hired based on level of experience.
- BS, MS or PhD in Neuroscience, Biology or related field with typically 12-14+ (BS), 10-12+ (MS), or 4-6+ (PhD) years of of academic or industry research experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work within high performance teams and/or matrix organization
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research independently and collaboratively to meet departmental and company goals
- Expertise in designing and conducting in vivo pharmacology studies in animal models of neurodegenerative disease; Prior experience working with animal models of Parkinson’s disease preferred
- Experience in standard molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques (e.g. protein purification, ELISA, WB) is also highly preferred
- Outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to work across functions and across sites, and within academic collaborations
