Senior Technician EHS
Barceloneta, Puerto Rico Req ID 2208277 Category Site Environmental, Health and Safety Division AbbVieResponsible for implementation and maintenance of specific, environmental, health and safety programs as assigned by management in response to existing and anticipated federal, state, local and company regulations to reduce AbbVie’s liability and/or impact on the community.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of the fire system and ensure compliance according to insurance company standards.
- Prepare and coordinate waste shipments (biohazard, non-hazardous and hazardous waste) according to DOT and local regulations.
- Conduct inspections and risk assessments to limit AbbVie’s regulatory liability (i.e. SPCC, tanks, secondary containments, waste areas, etc.)
- Compliance with local and federal regulatory requirements and Corporate Policies and Procedures.
- Provide general support to EHS Department in EHS programs as assigned, as well as assisting with other EHS initiatives (i.e., laboratory projects, recycling initiatives, data collection, storm water sample collection, non-hazardous and hazardous waste collection, waste reduction, pollution prevention, biohazard management, etc.)
- Assure that assigned EHS policies, programs, trainings, and procedures are developed/updated and implemented.
- Ensure compliance with current regulations and requirements, policies/procedures, Abbvie Engineering Standards and Global EHS Technical Standards are followed.
- Directly support operations and other general staff on the application of EHS principles to ensure work practices are implemented, and equipment utilized, to reduce injury and illness potential and overall risk to AbbVie. Provide EHS trainings to operation personnel or any other area as required.
- Provide support during emergencies as an Incident Commander and/or Emergency Response Team member. (i.e., hurricanes, drills, evacuation, spills, or any other incident). Support regulatory audits/inspections as well as Corporate Audit as required.
- Provide assistance to operations in accordance with environmental management, occupational health and safety (EHS) systems and promote continuous improvement. Comply with all EHS procedures and policies including incident reporting, use of PPE, waste management and disposal, and any other program applicable according to the position duties.”
- Associate’s degree with at least five (5) years of relevant experience in waste management programs, fire systems, or facilities.
- Must have 3-5 years’ experience in the daily operation of some general aspects of environmental, health, and safety programs in the pharmaceutical industry or similar production.
- General understanding of regulatory requirements for environmental, health, and safety.
- Is required to have the DOT certification or must complete the requirements on or before 3 months from start date.
- PR truck driver license or obtain the license on or before 3 months from start date.
- Powered Industrial Truck Certification or complete the requirements on or before 3 months from start date.
- Must comply with the vision and auditive medical surveillance requirements.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and other appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs from ground level.
- Data interpretation and independent problem-solving.
- Knowledge in MS Office products.
