    Associate Director for Portfolio Strategy

    The Associate Director of Migraine Portfolio HCP Strategy reports to the AVP of Migraine Portfolio Strategy and will lead a team of marketers responsible for the HCP integrated portfolio strategy.  The Associate Director is responsible for the strategic plan, including the tactical programs that support both the short and long-range financial plans.  This ensures there is clear alignment between the brand strategy and the HCP promotional levers that are critical to deliver the growth and market share objectives for the business.

    As a senior member of the Migraine Marketing Team, the Associate Director is expected to bring significant experience in product management, financial analysis, data management and insight generation, and innovative problem-solving to the team.  A track record of success in leading marketing teams is important, and the ability to work within an Integrated Brand Team of leaders of brands, medical affairs, sales leaders, market access, analytics, is critical to the role.  The Associate Director must demonstrate superior communication and quantitative analysis skills to generate the support for their business plans with the Executive Leadership Teams.

    Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the pipeline strategy for the migraine portfolio (Ubrelvy, Botox and Qulipta)  (mid and long range planning)
  • Lead the migraine portfolio medical marketing strategy for the brands
  • Manage a team of marketers supporting the promotional medical marketing tactical plans – inspire the team to excel every business day
  • Develop the annual strategic and tactical plans for the portfolio medical marketing in concert with the migraine brands in the AbbVie portfolio for presentation to the Executive Leadership Team
  • Analyze the efficiency of promotional medical marketing strategies and tactics working with MABI teams to maximize migraine brand growth
  • Own the promotional budget and align business decisions with marketing mix model recommendations
  • Engage closely with sales leadership to develop aligned business goals, across HCP segments
  • Bring innovative thinking and ideas to the table, challenging the status quo where appropriate to ensure brand and portfolio market leadership
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders within the migraine landscape and invest time in working with them to gain insights into our brands and portfolio strategies.
  • Collaborate and communicate with multiple agencies, external vendors, and internal partners including sales, market research, finance, managed markets, legal, regulatory, and compliance to gain support for brand initiatives
  • Operate in compliance with all AbbVie internal policies (ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, and general business policies) and applicable external regulatory requirements

  • Qualifications

    Basic Skill Sets:

  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred
  • At least 8+ years of pharmaceutical experience with strong analytical and strategic marketing skills is required
  • Prior experience in leading teams is required, with the ability to appropriately prioritize and execute multiple critical issues simultaneously
  • Experience in product management, forecasting and financial planning, and patient access is required
  • Able to quickly and adeptly grasp the essence of complicated concepts, and can change course rapidly where required
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to make effective presentations to internal and external customers, and senior management
  • Strong financial acumen with a good understanding of P&L drivers and the ability to develop appropriate investment plans based on market research and analytics insights
  • Ability to work closely with sales teams to translate promotional strategies to the field and to our customer segments
  • Openminded and willing to take calculated business risks, while grounded in reality
  • Experience in consumer promotion including DTC (linear and digital) media
  • Committed to the development of individuals within their team, and simultaneously focused on the success of the broader team unit
  • Prior sales experience preferred but not required
  • A pharmaceutical leader who is Excellence Focused; Optimistic; Open and Authentic
  • Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functional partners outside of immediate team.
Significant Work Activities: Continuous standing for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
